I have a Jeep Patriot and I’m trying to have Jeep's Nav unit installed. Problem is the dealer closest to me doesn’t have it on their parts list. It’s an option when buying the vehicle new though.
So do you think I would have better luck if I tried other dealerships? Is it possible that the Nav is only available if bought new?
I have tried getting an aftermarket unit from Caska but they don’t have one that would work on my vehicle.
So can someone in the know-how please give me advice?

Other dealers would have the unit. How do they replace or repair them? Phone HQ and get them to help you.

I'm looking around to see if I can import but that's a last resort. At over R10k from MOPAR it might be an expensive lesson if it doesn't work when it gets here.
I do have a Garmin but I want my dash looking all neat and tidy. If I know I can get the unit then I'll weigh up the options to be foolish or not.

10k? Peanuts. An Oem VW RNS-510 is 49k excluding fitment.

The cost of it isn't even an issue...but I'm glad you found a cheap chinese alternative. Its got no RDS so I won't even consider it.
I managed to get the part number from Head Office and I'm waiting for the quote from the dealership. So progress.

So when I'm driving down the road with a sense of satisfaction listening to my over expensive Nav unit, I doubt I'd be concerned what IRG thinks of it...

You dont get RDS in the Jeep Patriot at all ... not Cheap chinese nor Genuine Chrysler .... Peeved me off to no end .... Thanks yanks not considering more than themselves.... The full Jeep NAV system is sickly expensive. I was quoted 17K installed. And they could not guarantee its RDS would work, cause thay would have to try run EU mode for the whole cars electrical system.... (and that will change engine mapping for different octane petrols etc for Europe standards)

May I ask how much its going to cost you?

I tried to get the Bluetooth and USB modules for the standard head unit on the demo model I bought, but Jeep said that they cannot supply... I also tried the guys at Morris 4x4 in the States, but they were not very interested in helping with this.

Thinking of just getting a Parrot installed. I'm not concerned about the navigation.

Look, I'm very hesitant on any Chinese drop shipping, but the guys at Stopshop.co.za really do make an effort when things go wrong. My Unit I got for my Kia Sportage was faulty, and they brought in a new one for me which I am still very happy with. The price is really good, Video playback is fantastic, Blue tooth functions flawlessly. My KIA radio has RDS, works fine too. I use gps underground to get my NAV system (Currently using iGo Primo). It has pip so you can NAV while listening to music or radio. The Jeep one is slightly different but only the interface and the RDS, all the rest (software & hardware) pretty much the same.

The Jeeps audio pwns KIA six love tho :( love the rich sound of the Jeep (I think the speaker system is Bose?)

At the end of the day, I can buy the unit 3 times over for the price of a "Chrysler" brand.... And I can always just put the Original Unit back ... Jeep Patriot was the easiest install I have ever done...

Closest dealer quoted 28K. I nearly fell over. The cheapest quote was 24K. So I take my statement back. That price is exorbitant. I knew it would be expensive but not that ridiculous.

So why is it 18K as an option on a new vehicle? And this includes a 9 speaker Boston Acoustics system with amp and subwoofer.

I can get it for 13K from www.mygigs.eu but when the dealer didn't know how or if they could install it I decided to put this on the back burner...for now. Too much stress and I feel like I'm forcing the issue.
BTW my current head unit does have RDS.
