And then, nothing... I'm not in the trial areas so the agent just told me to contact 10210 to check if I have 10 Mbps available in my area  At least we know now they are actually contacting the people that completed the form on their website.

Also had a call this afternoon as a result of filling in my name on that Telkom 20/40 application the other day. Tells me the trial's not available on my exchange. Told them they're wasting my time phoning me about it then, not?

I'm like 1k away from the Telkom centurion NOC and I don't even have 10mb available, guess the demographics aren't right.

Just received a fairly useless call from Telkom myself. The lady asked who the line was registered to so I told her my landlord's name and was promptly told that "He will have to request this." :/

But yeah, good thing they're actually calling people about it.

Got a call from Telkom this morning. Told me my exchange was capable of 10Mbps and would be upgraded soon (next 2 weeks) to a 20Mbps line and would be able to sync at those speeds. Not quite sure if she knew what she was talking about. Asked her about the price and she said it would be the same price as the 4/10Mbps line.

Will wait and see if she phones me back in two weeks as I requested.

THAT sounds like a dream :p What area are you in?

I thought the MSAN trial joke project would only be carried out in Durbanville in the WC ?

I filled in that Telkom trial form a while back.

Today I got a call from them @031 334 3000, and the lady told me to phone 10210, press 1, and ask the consultant to put me through to speed dial 640. She said it was for the 20/40 mb adsl speed trial, and I should ask if my exchange supported it.

I ended up in accounts, and asked them to put me through. They said that speed dial 640 is wrong and it has to be 604, so they put me through there. Explaining that I'm phoning about the trial, they said they didn't know what I'm talking about, and put me through to dsl support.

After explaining what I'm phoning about again they put me through to Telkom Internet (I think), and they didn't know what I was talking about again.

I guess I'm screwed. I though this was only for Telkom Internet customers?

I am in the Fourways Sandton area 011 467 ****. Will continue to monitor my sync speed and see if it jumps.

So this also means that what I have been nagging on about is not too far from the truth : That our local copper to the exchange does allow for some very decent speeds.

So why does telkom not upgrade exchange equipment and backhaul capacity before they commit everything to deploying MSAN's ? 15 - 20mbps down and 1mbps up would keep me quite happy for the next 2 - 3 years while they roll out a decent broadband fibre infrastructure.

They want to run before they walk it seems.

Same here, I got a call but it was pointless because my line won't even hit 2048

I got a call. Told me its not in my area. So I told them to fix my exchange so I could get 10mbps before they give someone 4km away from me 40mbps.

I don't think they give a ****.

Got a call today as previous members have mentioned. They said I should phone new services and apply. Called them and explained I was in Fourways which they said was part of the pilot. She checked and said that I qualified but that there it wasn't free and would cost R727 and came with 30gigs. Said I was happy and she said I would have to collect a new free modem that could use VDSL. So went to Telkom on the way home and collected a new pace modem. Did make sure that there was no contract involved and they confirmed so left with modem. Got home and plugged in and guess what Your speed is : 23292 kbps(down) , 1088 kbps(up) but seems like normal adsl. Can't find the connection stats on this router but will post when I figure out.
