Hi there.

For some reason, after moving to a "new" K3772-Z modem, I find that I have to suffer a reboot quite regularly.
Seems like around every 4 to 6 hours, but not consistent.
Sometimes while working/surfing that I hear Windows beep and see the modem has been turned off (red light).
VMB then reports no device.
Once the modem is removed/reconnected I can connect, but no browsing.
Calls to 111 gave clues to ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /registerdns and then reboot.
Nothing else seems to solve the problem and it is very frustrating.

Anyone else having such weirdness ?
Anyone have any clues ?

I think those steps are redundant if you follow them with a reboot.

Does rebooting on its own solve the problem?

Hi guys.

Just rebooting does usually solve the issue.
( It was hoped that the dns flush would prevent the need for daily reboot, however )

Software: 10.2.302, so will go find a newer release and see if that helps.
[EDIT]
I had a quick look around and am only finding 10.2.302 on offer.
Have you some other spot I should be looking.

Win7: K3772 Device Turning Off

Hey guys.

Apologies for previous double post - repost after network timeout message.

Anyhoo . . . No joy, I'm afraid. Uninstalled everything I could see and installed 10.3.203.
I can say that the startup device detection is much faster, also response when looking for sim and network.

My joy lasted from 8:47 to 9:04 when while browsing, I got a message from the VMB software:
Device switched off.
Shortly after that, the software displayed "device detected" but then "No sim card".
So I have just rebooted again.

OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit

Could be a power issue? You tried it in another machine or on a powered USB hub?]
I could use my wife's (identical) modem for a day or two ( removing variables ).;)

An update in the meantime:
Yesterday after the reboot I was fine until shutdown around 19:30 . . . some 10 hours without issue !:D

This morning I tried something else - based on your power suspicion:
I started up and did not connect, ignoring the network for a while and just doing something else
(ripped two CDs and left the machine idle for an hour).

On return the modem light was still on blue and the VMB software was still showing "Connect" available.
But I couldn't connect - got that "unable to use modem, set as default device" message :wtf:
So, I removed the modem nicely and tried again.
Nada - can connect but not browse, ping nothing so had to reboot again.
Scenario was the same - now I'm wondering if it is the Win7 networking is somehow confused.

K3772-Z Device turned off

Update:
Okay, so tried different machine, USB extension, powered USB hub and all the same.
Used second K3772-Z modem with same results.

One potential clue - potential overheating.
Every time the modem turns off, it is very hot to the touch - so now half-opened the case and placed in front of laptop cooler fan to see it that helps :sick:

It's the reboot requirement that irks me the most - shutdown of the dev environment for reboot is a serious time-waster . . . once the device is turned off unexpectedly, there seems to be no other way to get Win7 networking to re-establish correctly without a reboot :-(

[ Edit: Gonna start a new thread about potential heat as this subject is no longer valid.]
