What is a good android Tablet to get for around R3000. Will be used mostly by the kids to play games, movies etc. Looking at a good quality tab in this price range.

I wouldn't go for the Kindle Fire HD over the Nexus. You get tied up with Amazon, you even need to root to install the Google Play store... Besides that, Android updates wise the Nexus wins + Very limited custom roms atm if any for the Kindle...

Thanks, Any reviews on the ACER Iconia 500 (10", 32GB) ? It on sale tomorrow at incredible for R3000, normally R5000

Please don't buy the Acer, its rubbish.
Best to buy is Nexus 7!!

The Acer is older and has a bigger screen with less powerful CPU, but it had a MicroSD slot to store additional content should the internal storage not be sufficient. The Nexus is newer and faster and will get the latest OS updates but no expandable storage so the 8 or 16GB is what you are stuck with on this tablet.

Acer a500
CPU: Dual-core 1 GHz
Screen size: 10.1 inches
Expandable storage= Yes
OS: Android 4.0.x (ICS, will probably never see Jelly Bean officially)

Nexus 7

CPU: Quad-core 1.3 GHz
Screen size: 7.0 inches
Expandable storage= No (not good if you plan to store movies on it)
OS: Android 4.1.x (Jelly Bean, will get the latest updates for sometime to come)

If I had to choose right now it would be the Nexus.

Expansible storage is important to some.. suppose its a cheap way of expansing you're devices storage and you could use a bunch of memory cards to expanse it further.

Nexus 7

If you get anything else at that price point you need your head examined.
