What is considered Abuse on a 1meg mweb uncapped account?

Good day

Today I got a mail from mweb for abuse.

I have been doing the same amounts for the past 9 months. So i would like to know what is considered ABUSE??
And I have downloaded less this month than I have the last 2 months.
I download a average of about 250gigs a month on my 1meg line. I download from torrent sites and now and then a update or so for games and programs. My torrents gets the lowest priority , and only really use the internet after 6pm when i get home. I dont stream video's or music from the internet.

Maybe Mweb Guy and give us the run down on this, So we can know the limits.

Holy smokes. That is excessive. No ways that is casual browsing and a few torrents/updates. Math doesn't add up.

250gig basically means 30 days of continuos downloads at 100kB/s. I may have calculated that wrong though, but it's still heavy usage.

Think my calculations are right:

250 GB
256000 MB
262144000 KB
100 KB/s
2621440 sec
43690.66667 min
728.1777778 hours
30.34074074 days

I think 270gb is just about 24/7 downloading with a 1mb , maybe half that would be a fair amount before you are labeled as an abuser.
 
250GB on a 1M line - that is serious abuse!

You only use the internet after 6pm and you do 250GB. Not possible. Something doesn't add up.
 
You ARE an abuser.
They should suspend your account ASAP.

Pretty much maxing your line day in and out! 100kb/s 8-10GB a day which gives u the 250GB...

That's abuse Unfortunatly, I would say 120Gb would be okay..

Maybe his line got upgraded to 2mbps.
For a wizard 250GB on a 1mbps possible :p
 
Haha, yeah 250GB is way too much.
General consensus from other Mweb uses show that 150-170GB has been fine, obviously taking into consideration that you not bypass the shaping that Mweb puts in place.

You can do this on OpenWeb and you wouldn't get nasty letters. I used to easily touch 85-90GBs on my 384 line. :)
 
I did 250gb one month on my mweb 1mb line. Remember that when you're downloading torrents, you're also uploading.. So it is possible. But sadly, on average, i only do between 20gb -30gb per month on my 1mb line. Just had one big month.
 
Jeez I am changing to MWeb. Afrihost throttled legitimate downloads on 30Gb this month.
 
:wtf: how is that even possible? Yiy must maxing your line day in day out without getting shaped.

Lemme rephrase that:

In case you didn't know, up until about a month or two ago 384 was still very prevalent. ;)
 
doesnt it kinder defeat the purpose of uncapped ?? if they gonna cock block you for large downloads. torrents not even using the full 1meg. But if you guys are getting such a little a month, then maybe im doing wrong. my telkom line is 2meg , my isp is 1meg. averrage download speed during the day is 66kb... so something not right??? and i wouldnt know how to bypass shaping if i tried??
 
How do you watch 8 gigs worth if stuff a day?
