Zuma fish and chips ad banned by SABC

Videos blocked at work but from this,
The animated advertisement begins with the words “Dinner time at Nkandla” appearing over an image of a mansion.

The next frame is indoors. A woman, seated at one end of an extremely long dining room table lined by children and several other women on both sides, says in isiZulu: “Oh Zuzulicious, we’re having fish and chips from Shabba today.”

The huge family is enjoying a dinner of fish and chips.

An animated President Jacob Zuma responds: “Eat up honey bunch, there is a lot of good food here. It’s from the Fish and Chip Company. There are many of you in this house, at only R25 even Pravin will approve this.”

The ad is in "strange" and the Zuma and Nkandla reference is odd too. Just doesn't fit. I'm not sure what the SABC is allowed to do but I'm sure Zuma himself would have recourse against that.
 
Well the advert definitely looks lame & its provocative wonder they had to ban it, ;)

I know you're trolling but the ad was pretty lame. It was a good idea, they should have worked on it a bit more though.
 
I think the people who made the ad were hoping to profit from the resulting controversy ala Nandos. A lame attempt, sounds like lavatory humour.

What's degrading about making fun of a liar and a thief?
 
Great concept, poor execution.

The point, however, is that at R25, not just Mr Gordon, but also the public would approve ;)

A couple of good satire points in the ad. The sound production/voice acting is a bit lame and I guess that is what might sit wrong with people.

Good satire points include the shower head fountain in front of the mansion (Zapiro style). The fact that the Nkandla "homestead" is rather a fancy mansion. The huge pan over a BIG family dinner table. The scores of children running around. The large and gaudy clothing/jewelry on the primary wife. The fact that Pravin would approve over their dinner budget: what does that have to do with the minister of finance, unless of course if the taxpayer paid for your family's dinner and not out of your salary....

Just like the Zuma camp did over "The Spear", the ad would have been relevantly unnoticed if there was no protest. Fish and Chips Co/Taste Holdings should thank the SABC for the free publicity. And personally I will support them in the future.
 
Good God!!! A ban over this ad???Truly the cult of personality has taken over at the SABC.It's no wonder the goverment through it's bungling of broadband policies and it's interference in Telkom/ICASA/DOC a lot of the sheeple will never get to see adverts like these(on other online channels) because some a-hole decided it might offend the "Leader".

Maybe e-tv might flight it?TopTv?Nah...too BBBEEE,Youtube?Yah!!!!! Spread it gent's and ladies,the power of the internet will prevail,let them try ban that.DISGUSTING!!!!
 
History teaches us that If you impose a on ban something, it comes back to bite you in the behind ...the ANC and all the other movements were banned pre '94... look what happened? soon as you classify something as banned, you must know that trouble is coming your way

I am interested - Why would Zuma have recourse?

What right has the Fish&Chip Co impaired?
Nkandla is a town (like Durban only a hell of a lot smaller)

Not a great ad but its banning seems dumb,

Its banning by the state media is worse because it looks like
- the Presidency has asked for the censorship - which would be an abuse of power OR
- the SABC unilaterally did it

Now if we pulled every ad that pulled someones leg (this one doesnt even do it much) then what?
