This is my rant and this is my gun. Cell c is the dud in the magazine. Trying to game on a cell c dongle ( firmware up to date, latest dongle bought ) is a JOKE. I do not know what changed between last year and now, but cell c - YOU SUCK. My contract expires December, and i will burn the piece of crap modem and smoke the bill. I will be getting a 4Mb line through mweb and i'll still be paying less than what i pay you ingrates. i cant even game on local servers ( Black Ops II ), then your POS modem changes from UMTS to HSDPA and back to UMTS. I have FULL signal, but NOOOO....your crap network changes throws me off or changes my ping from full to 0 and back to full again in 5 seconds. And before you brightsparks comment, NO, i cannot afford a fibre connection, hence the dongle. So Cell C - FU and goodbye.:mad::mad:

Had loads of fun playing WoW on Cell C!

/end sarcasm

Ironically, now that I have ADSL, I no longer game.

3G is not suitable for gaming, especially not FPS. Simple as that. If you want to play FPS you need ADSL or wimax.

Lol, welcome to the other reason why ADSL is so much better than wireless. You're gonna enjoy that MWeb Uncapped.

Sorry to hear that you battling and I agree i'm sure ADSL is better however on the flip side I have been on the Cell C dongle for 3 years at first what a frikken nightmare, however service has improved exponentially I unfortunately don't have the luxury of access to an ADSL line (location) so I had to settled for Cell C. When it comes to 3G it is all about location......location location

Pretty Consistent over a year

I've been gaming on 3G for the past 4 years, and apart from the obvious problems that come from a wireless connection, my gaming has been stable with FPS or any other games I've played online.

You are lucky. 3G is a heavily contended service. Your gaming latency could go down the tubes tonight if just a few heavy users move onto your network in your cell area. There are no guarantees on 3G and most users on 3G get unstable pings and jitter. If you are serious about gaming adsl or wimax are the only real options. For FPS where proper hit detection is important I would take an old 384k adsl connection over any 3G or even LTE connection for gaming.

Ive been able to play some League of Legends for over a year on Cell C, with minimal problems. Lately however I can hardly use their Internet anymore. /Getting high packet loss, especially in the evenings.

Black Ops 2.......MW3........Black Ops........MW2......... on 3G no serious issues

Ive played many games over my cellc dongle with few issues. Dont whinge like a little girl and give them a bad name. 3G is not intended for gaming in the first place, but try other providers, it may be a signal issue, which can be overcome with an aerial

Define "many games" - Sims and My disney Kitchen do not count. The signal issue? Perhaps if you READ, you will see i have FULL signal strenght, and i do in fact have a external cellular antennae, wich did nothing for the fact it changes from hsdpa, to umts, to hsdpa+. Other providers included Mtn, and good luck with that. Speak to ANY dota2 gamer on Mtn and get an education.

I agree. I'm slap bang in the centre of Centurion. Not the boonies. Will be on Mweb in a few weeks. Cant wait!:)

Maybe they drop deliberately as they get annoyed playing against someone with continuous lag?

My ping on Cell C 3G near the Claremont CBD is never below 200ms and usually around 300ms. That is with a full 5 bars signal and around -80dbm. Shocking.
