Critical infrastructure developer outsourced job to China, wins top recognition

Having analysed his habits, Verizon was able to compile a schedule of Bob’s daily Internet activity:

09:00 – Arrive and surf Reddit for a couple of hours. Watch cat videos
11:30 – Take lunch
13:00 – Ebay time
14:00 – Facebook updates, LinkedIn
16:30 – End-of-day update e-mail to management
17:00 – Go home

This guy is my hero.. this does make me think though, maybe instead of looking for a full time dev job i will look for a part-time 'outsourced' one to do. :D
 
I joked about doing this a few years ago with some colleagues in Mumbai.
Here's the thing. I would not have fired him. I would have promoted the guy to project manager. He was able to get quality work out of the arrangement, which means his technical specs and code review must be very good. No mean feat if you outsource overseas - as some guys here will probably be able to cry in their beers about.
Of course - I would have placed a supervisor over him to make sure he does his new job.
 
the job got done didnt it? so why fire him?
 
Or at least hire the Chinese programmers. Imagine taking on someone's top dev job remotely. That takes skill.
