Hi - I recently began receiving car insurance SMS ad from +27870447184, there is an opt out option which I have tried to activate but the SMSs keep coming through every 10-15 mins.

Is there a way of finding out who is sending them so I can contact them to stop?

How do such companies get a person's cell number?

Many thanks

reply yes

Ask the person who calls for their personal cell phone number so you can spam them and call them when your feeling lonely at 4am.

ask for your number to be BANNED from the system.

Replying no/stop/**** off/die does not work

Thanks - I have eventually found that Prime Meridian or one of their affiliates is doing the SMSing and they have committed to blocking my number from future marketing sms's and will get the company owning the number above to contact me and explain how they came across my number. They are not allowed to use it without my consent.

Banks, 9 times out of 10, your bank gave em the number.

Personally I just loaded a Blacklist app on my Android and block em.

SMS's are still ok, as I just ignore them cos the cost of any sort of reply is not something I will support. It's the calls that I'd REALLY like to do something about. Now they even resort to just sending an automated voice call which speaks as soon as you say "Hello".

But yes, most definitely banks sell our info to these low life scum bastards SMS spammers. I will actually use that blacklist idea, as I was more prone to very quickly delete SMS spam and carry on with my day, mainly because some of the numbers coming in often resemble my internet banking SMS notifications.
