Hey all

I have had to downgrade my uncapped bundle since the line performance has dropped over the past months. A call from a Telkom tech confirmed congestion, with no expected solution date...

Is there a process that needs to be followed to get the situation elevated on Telkom's side???

Hi there igeorge,
I don't know of any process to elevate your situation to Telkom.
Some of the cellphone providers have company representatives on the site but Telkom is not one of them although 8ta does.

Maybe you should place a weekly data fault indicating that it looks like a congested exchange. I am sure that they would do some sort of analysis of the calls received.

Regards

Tim

You have three options:
Move to a location on a different exchange that isn't congested
Get a different solution (3G, etc)
Wait it out.

not too sure if this can help, but I managed to have my line moved to a closer DSLAM about a year ago after complaining to mweb and Telkom about my attenuation, I'm guessing I must have been moved as my neighbors still have kuk speeds and relatively high attenuation...

Not much you can do except sit tight and hope they upgrade your DSLAM...but dont hold your breath, seems they're more interested in giving a handful of people 40mbps connections instead of giving the other 99% solid connections.

There is absolutely nothing that you can do, except cancel your non functional DSL line.

A gaming cafe near from where I live has exactly the same problem. I contacted someone at Telkom, they did a few line checks, and informed the owner that there is not much he can do but wait for upgrades in his area.

DSLAM upgrades are extremely expensive, and there is no way Telkom will do any unplanned upgrades for one of even a small handful of customers, as they didn't even consider it or a gaming cafe.

So yeah, to be frank, your only options are the ones as mentioned by froot, i.e. move somewhere else, get wireless internet, or wait.
