Got this in my inbox this morning;

Hi 007

Your internet is about to get even better. We’ll be routing all our ADSL data across Internet Solutions’ top-notch network to bring you your best online experience yet. They’re our new broadband network provider and we’re confident that they’re exactly what we, and you, need.

So why IS? We did our homework. They have a huge national and international network that uses all major undersea cables. This means that they have ample national and international capacity, multiple failovers and low latency. IS is an industry top dog, operating one of the largest and most reliable network infrastructures in Southern Africa.

The upgrade will be seamless. You won’t have to change a thing. We’ll be switching over between the 26th and 28th of February. If you do experience any issues, simply restart your router.

Note that our Web Hosting services remain as is, with no changes on that side.

We’d love to hear from you online. Find us on Twitter @webafrica, comment on our blog post, or visit our forum.

This is just the start of some of the great things we’ve got planned for our loyal customers this year. 2013 is going to be a great one!

The Web Africa team

Damn, now the performance is probably going to degrade again on the IS network the same way it degraded when Afrihost relaunched their uncapped on IS.

What happened to WebAfrica's super-dooper powerful network that they assured us could handle all the strain of uncapped?

It looks like I will be moving ISPs, then. I've used IS-based ISPs in the past and they have ALL sucked.

I would urge you to wait and see as IS has made big improvements to their network infrastructure which is why we have chosen to migrate to them.

IS was horrid back when Afrihost used them, especially for CPT users (from my experience), but I've been on OW Vanilla for 3 months now and nothing beats it (price + performance). I'll be giving WA a try when this ridiculous calendar month cancellation period is up at the end of March.

@WAJustinW:
The network move to IS will take place today, 4th February 2013 and span to 8th February for our Resellers, with everyone else being moved over on the 26th – 28th February. This will allow us to manage any issues that may crop up (hopefully there will be none at all).
Perhaps stating the obvious here but can you confirm then that regular customers will only have their uncapped accounts moved to IS 26-28 Feb?

Yes, you are correct our regular customers will only have their accounts moved over from 26-28 February 2013.

Technically its not exactly 30 days...

For instance.. if i cancel on the 10th of the month (ie: Jan)... I will have to pay on the 1st feb and only on the last day of feb.. will it be cancelled

aka, IS lost Afrihost/Axxess and now have a surplus of bandwidth and gave it to us for cheaper than our own network, so we would rather do that and stop worrying about our "engineers" not being able to do their jobs properly and press a button and save a ton of money in the process.

@WAJustin, so WA folk can already move to the IS network, just the existing customers are being moved end of the month?

Also, all the best for the move. I'm sure there will be a few hiccups during the transition to IS, but hopefully none as serious as the issues AH experienced moving from IS to MTN. I'm also feeling pretty positive about the removal of the rolling windows. It's one of the better things WA is doing with the move.

Thank you for your feedback. We are extremely positive on the move as well and we're sure that there wont be hiccups if there are it will have minimal impact.

Yes, new customers will be on the IS network immediately. Our Resellers will be moving over from today till 8th February 2013 and our normal (end-user) customers from the 26-28 February 2013.

Ahem !

aka, IS lost Afrihost/Axxess and now have a surplus of bandwidth and gave it to us for cheaper than our own network,
[which the IS "engineers" have now agreed to take over for us and run as an integral part of the IS network]
so we would rather do that and stop worrying about our "engineers" not being able to do their jobs properly and press a button and save a ton of money in the process.
FIXED

:D

Yay now they adsl will actually be worth paying for..... Their own network just SUCKS so badly

BTW I'm so discusted. All new client get the reduced price but all the existing customers pay the full R499 fee. Wow how low can u go. The worst part I don't even want to be with them its just cause I wanted the uncapped for a week and realised that they have a month cancelation period so I paid for feb too. Wow I hate this company so badly.

Would it be possible to send out some test accounts for your current online gaming customers to test out?

We unfortunately do not have any test accounts available. You will need to wait till your account gets migrated to test.
