I bit the bullet and bought one. I am so glad I did. I really wasn't expecting much when I got, I just figured it would be okay until my contract expires and get a "real" phone on my next contract.
So lets gets started; The last phone I had was a Galaxy S2 so I'll compared my experiences with that. So far, I have only had this for 24 hours.
In the box I got 2x 2000mAh batteries and these batteries are huge.
I used the phone immediately after putting in my SIM card and the battery for 5 hours straight (Meduim screen brightness, 3G, Wifi, Gaming). before needing to recharge, Im sure the battery will last much longer today after a full charge.
The Screen is massive and does a good enough job. For a 2000 rand phone I am happy with the screen. The resolution is 800x480. You can actually see the pixels if you look closely. The colours look slightly washed but I'd imaging I'd be able to adjust colour saturation by find an app of sorts that can fix this. The screen is nice and bright on high settings. I've never had had a large screen and only after a day I am ready to say I dont want to go back to anything smaller. Whatsapp, Gmail, Webbrowsing all so much better on the 5inch screen.
The CPU is is a Cotrex A9 - A Dual Core 1GHz processor. Its works well, There is some very minor lag when opening the apps draw but hardly noticeable. I have not experienced and kind of lag in non-game apps. I have had the browser open on websites with lots of images and the CPU has handled the webpage well. The operating system runs well on this.
There is 512MBs of RAM on this. Again, I have had multiple non-gaming apps running at the same time and have not had any-problems.
The OS is Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream sandwich. This is okay for now - but worries me is how I am going to be able to upgrade this in future. There is an upgrade button in the settings, but I doubt sansui will be prompt with updates. I assume I am going to have to handle updates my self by rooting, which leads to the next problem. There is very little about this device on the internet which means there is going to be very little community support.
On the positive side, the OS is not bloated at all, it comes preloaded with twitter and face book and a Word/Excel editing app. All work well. The
The 3G modem is actually very good, I used to have al ot of trouble with 3G signal at my residence with my Galaxy S2 with it only being able to find EDGE at the best of times. With this phone I have HSDPA signal in most of my residence and its very fast. Nothing to complain about here.
GPS works very well and got a signal lock on faster than my S2. It has a lot of features for acquiring GPS signal faster such as (EPO, A-GPS) and it works. I was travelling along the highway using Navigation and at one point, it inaccurately but my on a side road, but it managed to correct it self after a minute or two.
The build quality is good, not the best but good none the less. Its feels solid and looks good.
The phone has dual sim cards which I haven't tried yet, but this is good thng for getting a data contract on sim and using a voice contract on another, or if you live in two location and one network has better coverage than the other or a third use would be if you have one number for pleasure and another for business.
Extras in the box include a pleather pouch. Extra battery, cheap earphones
Even though the price is now R2500, Its still a good phone for the price. I would recommend this.
