Hi Guys

I have a problem here. We are setting up a call center. The infrastructure is as follows:
1. One Pbx where a Telkom ISDN line is connected to (PBX has the FXO Module)
2. We have one reception phone plus six extensions
3. The internet has been split into data and voice each on 4 mbps

We recently found out that when you convert the telkom line into a digital line, we realized that we cannot make two calls at the same time and Telkom told us that it is because we have one line.

Here is my question:
If we divert the number to a VOIP number (Our Voip number has three channels) will more than one person be able to make a call at the same time

PLEASE HELP!!!!

ISDN allows 2 voice channels, the problem here is your interface to the PBX is FXO ie analog and not digital analog only supports 1 voice channel at a time.

Your options are to get another FXO interface, and plug that into the ISDN NT unit it has 2 FXS ports on it, or better yet get yourself an ISDN interface for the PBX and connect via that single cable 2 voice channels, you have ISDN so why even connect to it via analog FXO/FXS go pure digital.

Hi There,
I am by no means a VoIP expert and certainly not at the hardware level. However what warwickw is saying makes sense to me. I would get rid of the analogue.
The other option you could consider is to have the PABX in the cloud by porting your Telkom number to a VoIP service provider.

Regards

Tim
