Evernote hacked and user data stolen

We are moving to the Cloud (forced even) but it's becoming riskier by the day. The benefits of using the Cloud is obvious but the dangers are also as obvious. Double-edged sword.

I use Evernote a lot. And now that it owns penultimate (one of my all-time-favourite apps) even more so. I record anything and everything in it as it syncs across all my devices and I can get the notes anywhere at any time. Great app. But hackers unfortunately pose a huge risk.

Oh bloody hell !!! The inconvenience, another password I have to remember.

Damn. I use Evernote every day - it is my go-to note-taker. This morning I opened it up and it asked me for my password which turned out to be incorrect. So all of my data has been stolen, which is a massive cause for concern.

Eventually managed to change my password, but this is pretty alarming...

It sure is - especially for people who reuse their passwords over multiple websites/services/etc....

Like I do. I'm going to have to change them all now...:(

Just checked and there is incredibly sensitive information relating to a few companies that has leaked. Most of which are bound by confidentiality agreements and NDAs.

Gonna have to contact my lawyer now as well...

Reluctantly started using LastPass(and love it's password management) but now have to wonder with these recent web/hack attacks if anything is safe.

Then they should be shot!

Rather harsh when practically every damn website asks you create some form "account" and password before before granting access to certain info. Some are skeptical of password managers.

Lastpass is the answer to all. Its even more secure when using Google 2 factor authentication.

Aaaah now you talking.Yeah, rather LastPass and the like than mercilessly expose yourself.Make'em sweat for every darn information.

I used to be guilty of this practise big time.
I used to separate my secure banking passwords from 'the rest'

But the rest has some pretty sensitive business data... gmail, googledocs, evernote, shopping sites like Amazon etc.
I have taken to different password per website. Slowly but surely changing them as I use the website
