That is not proof. A lot of apps have that wording for specifically the app updates. Show some figures and costs to justify your statement

34MB for close on 1500 messages here, including a whole host of media sent and received.

It is not cheaper to send an SMS...

690 messages sent and received since last clearing the stats. Total of 6.8MB. On Android.

Think I'll stick to Whatsapp, thankyouverymuch.

27782 sent, 21885 received. 18.3MB sent 18.7MB received here.

Now, the Android Facebook app on the other hand...

That's at least 20 messages per day if you installed whatsapp when it first launched and the stats reflect that. Can you lawyer via whatsapp now? :p

Haha - 20 messages a day is quite few I reckon. I was on 30 SMSs a day when people still used to sms...

Group chats and whatnot also contribute.

No whatsapp-based lawyering just yet, mind ;)

530 messages and only 15 megs used, so no bandwidth hog, yup the fb application on the other hand

54 400 messages sent... 51 416 messages received.
206.4MB sent (incl media) ... 184.7MB received (incl media)

That's not even 1 month of my 500MB bundle... over 2 years...
54 400 SMSs x 35c (not even including the fact that whatsapp messages can be longer than 160 chars) = R19 400 saving over 2 years!!!

not even 500MB used... at R80?

You end 76 messages per day?! :wtf:

6394 messages and pics sent and received for a grand total of 20.8 MB. Yeah what a data hog...!

My phone doesn't use much data with whatsapp, however a friend of mine said his phone reported whatsapp used +-300 megs in a week, but since his BB broke he has started using whatsapp on his S2 again
Here is my data usage from whatsapp, have had the phone since late Jan this year
