I have today seen the leaked version, not on my computer, Windows Build 9369 and yes it is more Windows 7 look-a-like with a modern twist.

It does include all these, http://www.pcworld.com/article/2035460/windows-blue-wish-list-15-must-see-improvements.html, and other rumours here, http://www.techradar.com/news/softw...ate-to-build-on-and-improve-windows-8-1131737, do not know what else, except that is clearly more desktop friendly.

Have not played with it, but it seems the mistakes or problems associated with user experience has been solved. Well this is to be seen when released.

Now the reason for posting this is to hear opinions from Windows 8 users who want this system to be improved and what you expect to be implemented?

If it includes supports for all my games I might consider it. If not, bugger it.

I have it... seems to be some ModernUI (was-metro) polishing... can make smaller tiny tiles now... still no classic start button or boot to desktop in the leak tho'. Also a little buggy, BSODs often... a work in progress... will be interesting to chart the changes.

Build 9369 tends to BSOD, the only reason I'm not testing, they say it will be released this summer…

What does classic shell and Start8 do?

Those are 3rd party apps... there was speculation that Microsoft would include these as native Blue options. Maybe in later leaks ??

Eish... and this it does with alarming regularity.

I have this build...

6.3.9369.0.fbl_partner_out14.130324-1300_IMP_CCSA_X64FRE_EN-US_DV5

I tend to collect pre-beta operating systems... fun to try I guess.

EDIT: Am waiting for newer 9374 leak 64bit version.

I am actually wondering how they will make this service pack available, through a regular MS Windows update or through an App Store mechanism in order to prevent piracy. Or... even purchase the service pack :erm:

Should they bring back the Start Menu, it will bring some loyalty back, but this does not bother me in general. I got used to the system within 24 hours.

Heheheh... knowing Microsoft... you will have to purchase the upgrade, with a discount of course if you own Windows 8...

Another question, should you already installed a third-party Start Menu and you upgrade with Service Pack 1 which will “maybe” include a Star Menu, throw the entire system in havoc and cause possible BSOD?

MS will need to answer questions should they want to make this available.

You will probably get an "upgrade advisor" type thing as in Vista with its service packs that will recommend pre service pack install actions.

I think if the 3rd party start menu / button replacement apps run as apps without playing funny with core windows files there should be no issues at all. It is when these things tinker with the windows dlls and fiddle with resources that BSODs become probable.

Even on Windows 7 with some of the theme / transformation pack hacks there were BSODs and blank screens after login after SP updates. I think 8 will be the same...

Just like OS X, I think it'll be available through the Windows Store and you'll have the option to download it or buy the upgrade discs from a store. All the ISOs for the online installers for new license keys will probably be replaced with 8.1 as well.

I'm more interested in how they're going to handle fragmentation. If Microsoft decides to do the clever thing and make it all available to download online, then the smartest thing they can do is add in a software checker on to new DVDs. If the system is connected to the net and if the checker detects a new version is available online, Microsoft should instead give you the option to download the new installer if you've bought a new licence but have the old discs.

Just to clarify, we won't have to pay for it right?

For those of us already running 8, they probably will ask for a small stipend for the upgrade, just like Apple already commands for OS X.

Meh they can shove it, already felt like I wasted money on it, not going to pay for them to fix it.

If the upgrade is indeed free, I might consider going back to Windows 8.

If I am not mistaken 8.1 or Blue is gonna go the OS x route in short: Pay for "upgrades" Thats why the name change to Blue.

Unless you have an Annual licence like most Businesses, they will get it for free the rest of us will pay small fee's for said upgrades.
