I am still concerned about the fact that Eskom's new developments feature on the national budget for South Africa. I know Eskom is owned by the government so it does not surprise me all that much, but it does indicate that their budget is intimately tied to that of the country as a whole. This means that if Eskom is in debt then the country is in debt. It also means that if Eskom is blackmailing us for the funds to upgrade then it is actually the government doing so. And ultimately the worst thing for me is that if Eskom is paying it's brass exorbitant salaries and bonuses then it is actually the government that is doing so (but what's new you may ask... -_- )
I'm sorry, but if the gov is not willing to use tax payer's money to pay for infrastructure through it's SOCs (Eskom, Sanral, SABC, etc... etc...) because the gravy train is off the rails (actually more like flying sky high) then I am just more and more disgusted by the whole thing.
May I remind you that they are planning an average salary of R820 000 for its employees in 4 years and this is part of the reason for the price hike. That's a zooty fruity R68k a month.
