Vodacom SMS notifications, again and again...

My once off data bundle on my contract SIM is on 30-odd megs left, expiring end of May.

I started receiving SMS notifications Tuesday morning advising my data is about yo run out - I thought "cool, will purchase another bundle after the 1st of the month".

Since Tuesday, I've now had one SMS every 50 minutes with a duplicate message 20 seconds later - this is ridiculous! Now resorted to putting the phone on silent... will call Vodacom tomorrow to see what's happening.

Anyone else having the same issue?
 
Same here!
Since 11am today I've received about 10 SMSs. 8 of which have been after 3G has been switched off, so my data balance hasn't changed
 
This was a problem a couple of years ago, but it was fixed.

Maybe they are working on the system again because of this.

Quite a quick turnaround. :)

Could you get those same guys to fix the "bug" where I only receive my SMSes after 22h00 OR when I make an outgoing phone call? Apparently (according to Vodacom ) it must be my cellphone. Both of them. And my girlfriends phone. :p

Does sound like your phone, must say.

Are you using TwinSIM?

No to twinsim. Sometimes I also struggle making calls. "Network busy". Recently it has been happening less.

From what you describe your phone(s) loses contact with the network. If the network does not know where you are, it will not try to deliver SMSs to you.

But when you make a call, the network sees you're alive and delivers any outstanding SMSs.

What phones are these?

2 x Android (Sony Ericsson and Huawei) and a Nokia. I have a Lumia 920 also, but on CellC and not having problems.

What you say makes sense, but it only happens when Im at home in the evenings. Everywhere else I go to I have no problems. Vodacom once admitted that my area is very congested in the evenings and theres nothing they can do.

Anyway. I've decided to not worry too much. My contract has reached its end. :) Will probably buy a new phone soon, and go prepaid.
