Tech price hikes expected in South Africa

Asked how long prices would remain high and whether they would come down again if the Rand strengthened, Mustek said that it’s not possible to make an accurate prediction at this stage.

“Due to the volatility of the market, it is difficult to predict how long prices will remain at higher levels,” Mustek said.

Depends how long we can gouge the customer before they get really angry.
 
You know I can understand it that they could adjust only the rand vs dollar exchange rate to their current products, but we all know they add that to their markup % so in return they not only adjusting for the rand vs dollar exchange, but also more profit in their pockets with in return they know the market will be buying less so they need to sell less to hit targets. If they go beyond targets it's all clean profit. I am sorry, but I do not fall for their 10% increase. This was worked in long before and adjusted for. Just raping the SA market as always and we end up paying over inflated prices.
 
Yup we know this, tell us something we don't know, like when do you ever actually drop the prices once the R and $ drops etc...
 
Don't forget stock that was bought WAAAAYYYYY before this exchange rate change. All that old stock will now attract the 'NEW' adjusted price.....nice profit on those items!!
 
Dollar goes up, price goes up. Dollar goes down, price waits for next dollar hike to go up again..

(Notice how I didn't say it goes down again)
 
Yep, as usual and much so the usual suspects(big distributors) ready to shaft us,hang on chaps it's gonna be a rough ride.

And that's not all. So much of our food is imported. The price of petrol is linked to the dollar. Etc... Etc... Etc...

And as history has shown if the Rand ever rebounds the retailers will not take their prices down again. And petrol and all the rest will certainly not get cheaper.

I spiked for a few days ... how much could possibly be effected in those few days?
 
Ripoff, always taken by local business.

All Items sold to the public are exploited and not condemned by the Government as they collect more revenue from tax. All they can Brag is the profit they made out of the public each year. We also by local goods at the dollar price.
(steel, chrome, gold, diamonds.......) Total Ripoff.:mad:
