Just a question, Hypothetically speaking, say the Australian Government thought that all our life's were in danger and decided to offer anyone living in South Africa a free residence permit to reside in Oz, one way airfare included for you and your family, would you

(1) Go For it?

(2) How many people do you think would flee South Africa?

I would go (if the family etc can go). I had enough with goverment taxing/sucking each cent out of me...

Yes definitely - would wait till I'm qualified though first.

Don`t know how long I would be able to cope with aussies all around me
Frankly I'd rather cope with a couple million Aussies than a couple hundred SA politicians.

Pretty much all of them. Think about it - live in an SA township or live in a 1st world country with actual functional social systems.

Seriously. If I didn't have a another option. Yes. I'd go.
I was approached by the New Zealand Postal Service a few months ago about a Integrations position.
After thinking long and hard about it - I didn't even follow up on it. No interest at the moment to leave.
The benefits of emigrating did not make it worth it.
To put things in perspective - a good friend is in the US. His step-daughter is first year at university. Which is costing him R300 000.
And he is having trouble getting a job. He's a senior Oracle Consultant with over 12 years experience.
The grass is not allways greener on the other side.

The grass isn't alwayse greener on the other side, but yellow grass is still better than dust and stones. People all over the world struggle to get a job, but wouldn't you rather be jobless in a country where the basics still work?

From my experience the Australians are very friendly towards us and I'm yet to encounter one who feels that we are intruding on their land. 43% of the Australian population has one or more parent who immigrated into Australia.

I don't really understand the question.

Basically, you are asking - if you knew your life was in danger and you had the opportunity to escape, would you?
Of course! Who wouldn't escape a known danger?

I wouldn't leave SA unless it genuinely was the case that all our life's were in danger (from what?).
And in that case it would be the same whatever country I was living in. If I lived in Germany (as my grandparents did) and it was the case that our lives were in danger (as it was for my grandparents) then, yes, of course I would leave.

That's cause we're slowly taking over. Drop a couple of million on them at once and see attitudes change. :p

I would but only if I get to stay in the most remote area away from Australians.

My husband stayed in Brisbane for 3 months and would agree with this 100%. He had a very negative experience, and said the only nice people he met were immigrants. He wouldn't stop speaking about all the Asian women :erm:

1. Can we leave today?
2. Everyone with a family / children would leave.
