Historically that's completely wrong. Automation of labour is what has created the present situation of overpopulation; particularly the automation of the farming industry and the industrialisation of the city. Even in the article cited, they're stating that they have a severe lack of people with the adequate robotics and engineering skill to keep up with the automation. So the bottom line actually is, we need a far more skilled, educated population than we currently have; because the jobs that have been mopping up the bottom classes in South Africa are being endangered and those people are struggling to transition to a skill-based society.

I'm too valuable in terms of the amount of income tax I pay. But there are millions living on social grants that should consider your suggestion.

Monetary worth or tax worth is hardly a good indicator of worth,looks like you may still be on your short list.
