Just wondering If I perhaps have a recycled MTN phone number on my Afrihost SIM card because its already getting sms spam. Is this happening to anybody else? It doesnt really bother me but was wondering if anybody has this?
Its not like I've given that number to anyone - hell, I don't even know what it is.

Folks recommendation is to not respond or do anything to such SMS, once they get a delivery report they leave you alone I have been spam free for 2 weeks but maybe I am talking way too soon.

New numbers assigned from CELL C / Vodacom get the 061 prefix and that has been spam free for me.

Hmmm... I WON!!! I WON!!!

I also received a number of demands for debt payments and various competitions that I supposedly won.

Very annoying.

Fortunately we do not use this sim for receiving phone calls.

I don't even bother checking SMS box anymore, it is quite frustrating.

Maybe in future Afrihost can work with MTN to put a stop such hoax sms :)

My wife got her number for years now, also start to get ads daily via sms. I just delete mine, but she is very upset about it.

Surely someone pays for to sms's .

FNB, as great as a bank they are, are real big culprits....

If only they used 1 or 2 numbers I could block it with an app or something, but no.... they use 20 different numbers
