Hi Guys,

Nice Friday challenge for you,

Just got this car for my younger Brother (its his birthday coming up), Kia Picanto 2010 on auction, drives nice, and was relatively cheap enough.

Only problem is the HUGE exhaust on this car…..

It’s too much pimped / riced for this kind of car,
( see below pics Plate erased:D) I was Wondering 2 things,

Firstly anybody want to swap or trade their own standard exhaust for this one? ( JHB area, we can remove it and refit don’t mind to pay expenses if necessary ).

And secondly anybody sell standard exhaust cheaply for this particular car? I don’t want to spend more than R600 on getting a standard exhaust for this car. Already spoke to many different guys nobody got this in stock and not for less than R1800. No junkyards have one in stock that I contacted

Its really an eyesore and totally inappropriate for his first car, who can you race with this joke, maybe a scooter or a shopping trolley :-D

Anyway hoping you guys got any ideas for me I haven’t tried….
Anybody you know buy back this kind of thing, somebody got one lying around from an old mod, as far as I can tell it’s the entire exhaust from header to tailpipe,

That is the worst cut-out I've ever seen. Who would f-up their car like that?!

probably going to have to replace the bumper because of this fool,
but want to start small so long, get rid of this silly excuse for an exhaust.

maybe a drifter will PM me and fit it to his nissan 240 SX

A cheaper solution would be to get a steel overlay fixed to the bumper and have a neat hole cut-out in it. It will still look like a mod, but much cheaper than getting a new spray painted bumper.

As for the exhaust system, it might mess up fuel economy majorly and wear out the small engine.

If you fit a new non freeflow rear silencer and bend the tip downwards under the bumper then put a new carbon or maybe just plain black vinyl sticker over the old one and the hole it should be OK. I doubt you will be able to patch the hole for your budget.

yes tell me about it, the check engine light constantly lit as well.
no doubt fuel economy suffering as well. but my question is who specialize in exhausts?

where can I get this fixed for cheap? dont want to spend a bomb to fix this story

That's not a good sign.

That being said fuel economy could actually be improved.

yip fuel economy suffering on this little car,

who specialize in Kia in JHB? korean boys? or anybody else?

what I'm hoping to find is somebody who looking to pimp their KIA out and got the standard exhaust on their car.
quite simple swap-around. all I want is for somebody to take it, and give the the original OEM parts...

checked already a few junkyards nobody got this in stock,

I dont think anybody will want to swap R2 for a bumper that has been hacked like that.

I don't understand how people can do this to their cars. It really makes you look like a douche.

People won't look at the car and say "wow, this is one fast car!". They'll just look at it and think what tool the driver is.

Hope you come right in fixing it OP.

Why you not happy the performance improvement is amazing bringing the 0-100 time down but about 30s to an amazing 1 minute 12 seconds.....
Only a plonker would do that to any car.

The check engine light is probably on due to the catalytic converter being taken off too. I doubt you'd get an exhaust and a cat for your budget :-(. Normally that being removed can improve vehicle performance though.

+1. Had a similar thought when I saw a guy driving an old model i10 who literally welded extra pipes onto the exhaust, not even actually connected, just welded onto the damn thing. An i10 does not work with quad pipes people

so how much would the whole thing to fix cost?
whats an estimate to give my little brother? to sort this car out,

I agree fully with you, this is totally stupid and unnecessary to pimp out this little car.
its like I coudnt afford a GTI but I still want to look like a gangsta:p

the only problem is the $$$ it will cost to make the car look normal again.
also hurt the resale value so much,

so long story short, what are my options?
how much more cash will I have to spend to make this car look respectable, :D

okay so Now I can join the club:p I don't feel stupid anymore.

Please explain this to me WHY do people this? What is the whole point?
WHY fit on a tiny car with bigger exhaust than the engine can handle.
WHAT is the point, who you gonna race with this thing? a moped? or a go kart?

good to know I'm not the only one out there with a needlessly pimped ride:o.

I think we can actually start a thread with pictures of tiny cars needlessly pimped?

what do you guys think?
