Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba has warned people to vote next year to prevent "oppressors" from gaining control of the government, The Star reported on Monday.

Speaking in Ga-Mokgoba, near Tzaneen, on Saturday, the African National Congress national executive member reportedly claimed that opposition parties would work together against the ruling party and try to halt economic transformation.

"If they [the public] do not register to vote, those who have oppressed us before and now claim that they love us will come back to rule this country," he was quoted as saying.

Later, speaking at an ANC Youth League 69th anniversary lecture in Kgapane Township, Modjadjiskloof, also in Limpopo, he repeated these sentiments.

"Our opponents have made it very clear that the economic transformation they seek is the one that will kill black people as proletariat of white capital," Gigaba reportedly said.

"If support... drops, the opposition will club together to slow down transformation."

Last week ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa reportedly warned Limpopo residents to vote or the "boers" would take back power.

So afraid to loose power and rule of corrupt governance....

Besides, even if the whole country votes against the ANC this government will rigg this election with so many votes - other parties will not stand a chance... Unfortunately one of the aspects of being corrupt...

The only thing that will and desperately needs to be oppressed is the lunacy, corruption, crimes and theft of the cANCer.

"If support... drops, the opposition will club together to slow down transformation."

It cannot be any slower that it is at the moment because your own interest is your pockets.

What's more disgusting is government ministers using their platforms to preach party politics.

So he just said exactly the same that mr Ramaphosa said ?

These ****-for-brains ANC scumbags are basically openly admitting that they still consider white people "oppressors" ...

Subtlety never was their forte, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

The ANC leaders are still very afraid of white people and also very insecure. They do realize, and therefore these continuous pleas for support, that white people may actually be able to get into government again.

Couple this with their continuous need for corruption and milking the country dry and battle to stay in power and you will get these kind of remarks.

In turn, these remarks will also help promote black hate towards white people, but this will suite government perfectly!

Say a majoritarily white party beats the ANC, why do they think that white people will go back to their old policies again?

The NP used 'Swart Gevaar' and the cANCer now uses 'Wit Gevaar'. The more things change the more they stay the same.

They really don't. They also know that the International community will never allow that to happen again. They are only using the f***ed-up race and apartheid cards to manipulate the poor, uneducated and stupid masses into supporting them. This is getting ridiculous.

At least he didn't use the word "boer" now the only people that can feel offended are actual oppressors

Well, no. He's implying that ANY party which is not the ANC will oppress... So everyone with more than a brain cell can feel offended :p

The race, apartheid and oppression card used in one speech .. wow the ANC must feel the pinch.

The [-]race[/-], apartheid[-] and oppression[/-] card used in one speech .. wow the ANC must feel the pinch.

Apartheid already covers the other two.

My issue with this and the "boer comment" before this was that they're both fear-mongering, but some people decided to make a bigger deal about it being racial instead with everyone focusing on the the word "boer" rather than how they scare their supporters with threats

it doesn't make it any better and fear-mongering stays fear-mongering, just that some people seemed overly excited to nab another racist in the ANC ranks when the worst he could have been accused of is as a piss poor politician
