I am moving house end of the month and would like any advice on how to approach telkom to get them to "move" my account over to the new address and to get it installed there, i will do a self install.(get it upgraded to the 4meg line too)

Type out the request in duplicate, go as soon as possible to your nearest Telkom office and hand in the original and get them to stamp the copy as proof they have received it.

A week before you move, complain at Hellopeter because nobody of Telkom took the interest yet to confirm dates.

14 days is faaaar to little notification for Telkom to move their butts.

Maybe a bribe or so could work wonders... or it could get your but in jail :)

You should have started nagging them at least six months ago. I moved six months ago, phoned them about moving two weeks before, and I'm still waiting...

Figured as much....:( , just couldn't get my lazy ass in gear (maybe I should go work for telkom...?;) )

Should start setting aside 2 hours a day to nag them on the phone..

If you only have 2 hours to nag telkom you might never get to speak to someone ;)

But seriously do that, it worked for me. It took them 4 weeks to install my line. After 3 weeks they told me that I could get adsl, after I phoned of course and they gave me an install date. On the install day I phoned them again and they said that it will be moved to a week later. I said that I really need the adsl and is there no way I can get it done faster, the first lady said I must phone the install supervisor or something, which obviously never worked. I phoned telkom again and asked when it will be installed and I said that I need it really urgently and the lady (more intelligent that others) said that she will see what she can do, well more specifically she said that she will speak to her people. I got the adsl installed the next day :p

So just keep trying because there is always someone (at least one) who likes to help and knows a few people.
