Roeland Liquor has a huge selection if you want to buy craft beer to take home. They're in Roeland street near parliament at the c/o Roeland and Buitenkant Streets where the white pillars are:

These are the local beers:

And these are overseas beers:

For craft beers on tap there is Wembley Tap in Gardens at the c/o Mckenzie and Glynn Streets. They have 30+ on tap:

Top of Long Street (223 Long) there is Beerhouse with 20 on tap and 99 bottles.

Nice post. Be sure to check out league of beers (Yuppiechef). They ship cases and mixed cases of craft beers with no shipping costs.

The bottle store on Kloof Street, opposite Saigon next to Scooters (I think) sells some nice craft, sometimes different stuff. It's a good place to go for an adventure.

Best places in JHB are Loco Liquors on Conrad in Blairgowrie, Liquor City on Beyers, Wine and Liquor Craighall and Riverpark (I think)
On tap, is The Foundry in P/town North

Mitchells on the Waterfront on CT

Gilroys(going tmrw!!!!!!) in Muldersdrift by the N14 in jozi

Also agree with the Liquor City on Beyers, decent selection

In Stellenbosch: The Thirsty Scarecrow

Most local beer on tap (except Triggerfish). You can also do tasting - R40 for 4 or R60 for 8 IIRC.

Nice view of the winelands, good pub food as well.

Ah awesome, I've been looking for these!

Erdinder Dunkel 500ml - Erdinger Weissbier ‘dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from erdinger Weissbrau. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production. The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%)of original wort

This is good to.

Black Dog Smokey Irish Porter

Roeland Liquors is by far the best liquor shop I've ever been to. It's like being a child in a candy store, but with alcohol...

To add on to Stellenbosch distributors and surrounds:

Tops @ Die Boord has a selection consisting mostly of international beer, albeit limited. Both international and local craft.
PnP Liquors @ Stellenbosch Square, but fairly limited.
Bottelary Hills Wine Centre (http://www.bhwc.co.za/) has a larger selection of local craft than aforementioned.

Have also noticed other Tops and PnP liquors distributing craft beers, but they have limited stock and a rather small variety.

League of Beers would be your best bet to buy any local stuff, otherwise get into the home brewing scene ;)

The liquor store in Heldervue, Somerset West also have an interesting selection when they do have it in stock.

The other option is to get acquainted with the Portuguese or Italians, they always have some obscure alcoholic beverages coming through the backdoor.

anyone know where to get those Mitchell's 1.5 liter (IIRC) beer bottles? The Checkers Liquor in Durbanville use to sell them but I have not seen any in the most resent of times.
