I think I know what you all might say once I explain...

My phone is rooted and running a custom ROM. It's one of those built from the original.

The whole reason I went custom was to improve battery life, and hopefully performance in some areas.

The only thing that doesn't work is the GPS. It's an absolute dud. I turn it on, open Google Maps and nothing.

No symbol in the bar at the top at all - it's as if it's not even on.

Any suggestions, besides going back to stock?

Thanks.

Download an app called FasterGPS and check if it helps to get a lock

I have FasterGPS installed. I manually set the location (looks like it defaults to Europe / Poland). Changing it to Africa / SA doesn't help though.

Okay might not be a network issue then, install GPS Status and take a stroll, try using the tools to reset the GPS and see if it can find any satellites

Weird, installed GPS Status, went outside and the GPS started searching.

Locked in in the app, and within Google Maps.

Win \:D/

I do the same if the GPS is being iffy, don't ask me why it works but it does
