Free edX "LFS101x Introduction to Linux" course.

Via email,

First, we now have an official start date for the course: August 1, 2014. At that point, the course will be open and you’ll be able to get started.

Just a reminder for those who have not yet registered.
The course starts in just under two weeks and they sent out an email with a guide on how to prepare your computer for the course.

From the guide:
There are many different Linux distributions (sometimes called distros). While it would be easier for the purposes of this class to chose one and give instructions accordingly, we will not do that for two reasons:
  • We want you to understand what is globally true for all Linux systems and what is only true for a given family of distributions.
  • The Linux Foundation does not endorse or promote any one particular distribution since we support the community as a whole.
Thus we will show how things work on the following distribution families :
  • Fedora: Including Fedora, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and CentOS.
  • Debian: Including Debian, Ubuntu and Mint.
  • SUSE: Including SUSE, and OpenSUSE.

Does anybody else have an issue displaying the Courseware in Firefox(31.0) on Ubuntu(14.04 LTS)?
It seems like I'm only seeing the raw HTML? Could this be because I have AdBlockPlus installed?

I've tested it in Chrome, and the site works fine there.
(I am new to Ubuntu and Firefox is my browser of choice)

Thanks for the reply ginggs.

It looks like this in Firefox.
I'll use chrome for now, just wondering what is wrong with my Firefox.

I started with the previous one and the just lost my will to complete it.
Disappointed in myself.

Hope to give this round a proper go.

10 days to go to finish this version of the course.

I never finished it but will just do it again on the new version.

Typical Linux. Can't make up their minds and then change it half way.

Why do you say that?
I decided to give this round a skip. Hopefully I will do it next time.

I just feel as if some areas are way too detailed whereas others not detailed enough.

Also not a fan of the robotic voice in the video segments. Would've preferred more of a lynda.com style course.

Okay. Thanks.
Hope to do this next time around. Not in the mood to tackle anything at this stage.
