Where are Afrihost's price cuts?

Roughly a month ago I saw some murmurings on MyBB that an ADSL price cut from Afrihost was 'imminent' - have I been completely in the dark or has this not happened? I know they've been struggling with IPC capacity and am not sure if that's sorted yet.

I'm actually quite happy with the performance of my Business Uncapped account but having just come from two 3rd world countries where one can get a 1Gbps fibre connection for +-R500 per month or a 20Mbps fibre connection for R650 per month in the other country, the +-R1300 I am paying for my 10Mbps connection (which maxes at 8) is starting to feel a bit too expensive.

Anyone feeling the same way or have seen what their plans are?

I realize this probably isn't an Afrihost exclusive thing and there are other factors like Telkom which are keeping the price high, but there have been some cuts in IPC cost recently which I haven't seen Afrihost hand to the consumer.

Let's focus on the matter at hand, Afrihost's ADSL price :)

I joined shortly after this ... albeit the price cuts had not happened.

At that time, I needed a new ISP for form, fit and function reasons.

Now at the end April .... and I am yet to see a price change ....... and certainly Afriguy skirts the issue like Zuma skirts Nkandla.
 
My guess would be... under the carpet in the Afrihost Boardroom.
 
my guess would be its locked up in the same dungeon as where they put their good name and good service levels
 
I am loving my capped 50GB+50GB account :D
 
+1 also loving my 30GB+30GB account, thinking of increasing actually
 
Really wish they could drop their prices. They seem to have excellent service and little restrictions. I would be keen on joining if their price dropped...
 
If a price drop worsens network quality then I'd say no. Everyone is complaining about bad service and slow speeds (at least until the IPC increase) while also demanding price cuts. Price cuts will just make these issues worse.

I agree that, IF a price decrease would mean a degrading network, then I'd rather have an excellent quality account (this is why, as a consumer, I use a business account).

However, as consumers, the reason behind not dropping the pricing would obviously not be apparent to us, Afrihost could supply us with any reason as to why prices haven't been lowered even after their overall costs appear to have decreased.

Still, the issue still exists of ADSL being much more expensive than many other countries, but that isn't down to ISP's alone, in fact it's probably the least bit because of them.

Have you thought that their excellent service and low restrictions are because of their current prices. There's a trade off you know.

Great connection, great support, great price. Choose any two.
