Sony halts OLED TV development in favour of LCD

Sony, the ship that keeps on sinking... in 1080P... at 60fps.

Who buys Sony TV's anyway... Samsung is in the same price range and much better.

Yes support the the brand with biggest marketshare. Let competitors die. That's better for us all.

I remember how my dad and big bro insisted on only Sony Tvs in the 80's. They would have none of the Telefunken and phillips & Lucky Goldstar cr@p.
In fact my dad still has the big 74 cm sony box in his lounge!

Support the brand with the best quality/features for the price. Not my fault Sony can't keep up anymore.

I've just moved from Sony to Samsung in the lounge.

Although the size of the new TV is nice and has 3d etcetera it is inferior to my old Sony in so many ways especially build quality. Even the on screen menus look cheapo compared to the Sony. The funny thing is the Sony was entry level and the Samsung is meant to be mid range.

Sad to see Sony in trouble.

I recall Sony having better picture quality compared to rivals in early 2000's what has happened?
Sony had a patent on their Trinitron CRT technology which gave them an advantage.
Now they sell the same LCD panels that all the other manufacturers do.

After my experience with my samsung LCD that developed thick vertical lines across the TV two months out of warranty (1.2years old), i would buy Sony over Samsung any day. To think that a television would last such a short life span, pathetic. They have lost my support forever.

I swear the Bravia engine is superior to any competitor's motion rendering on TVs. OLED was a money drain though; best they cut it loose now.

Sounds like you have been brainwashed by the Samsung marketing machine.

Still love my Bravia. All other divisions could be sold off but the LED, PS4 & Experia divisions will prevail!
