2014 Currie Cup Premier Division

Well, I say the best two teams are playing in the final. They were both the most consistent teams throughout the season and deserve their place in the final. Now the log must just hold true.

I agree with the first part... the best two teams are where they should be, in the final. Both teams deserves their spots.

Regarding "now the log must just hold true.", I don't think so... if we go according to how both teams performed this weekend.... the Lions is going to take it. WP just didn't look like dominating at any stage. And with the type of rugby they played, they are going to lose.

If the Lions play liked the played the last two weekends, the WP can stop them in 1 way - defend like demons, and when the Lions make a mistake (like a loose pass or silly knock) they better play the advantage and use them opportunities on counter attack. Also at the breakdown. Lions sometimes don't defend those rucks too well, so if WP can get a lot of turnover ball, they can disrupt the flow.

I don't think the lions has "three good games in a row". I don't mind humble pie if they can pull another good game, but at Newlands ... WP to take the cup this year. Especially after the dismal performance this weekend. They have some work to do and I blame the resting of the players the weekend before. They will pull it together. If the Lions play like they did this weekend and Province pulls finger, I think it will be an epic clash! But if they are going to play percentages, expect kicks all around the park. But the Lions rucks ... oh boy ... I read in the Rapport that the props and hooker of the Sharks had to go the the emergency ward to get a proctologist to get their heads out of their asses. Lions really scrummed the crap out of them.

Like you said yourself, lions ink peaked in the last 2 weeks. If you go on consistency then province should take it. WP have a few injuries at the wrong time. I still think this is a 50-50 chance for any team to win it.

WP
Playing at home with a sell out crowd going bonkers
Want revenge as they lost the final last year.
Lions not the same team away from home
WP is their bogey team

Lions
Form team
Better forwards

I just think province would want it more even the lions is the stronger team, so WP to sneak it

This is the biggest point, the Lions still have this mental block in winning away from Ellis Park. I don't think WP is their bogey team.

The Lions also struggle to break down a very good defensive team.

But saying this, this is a final and anything can happen. If we go by history of finals between these two teams at Newlands them it is a tit-for-tat situation, 1 for me and 1 for you and currently it is WP who had the last win, so this time it is the Lions turn. I'm not one going against history that much.
