Chromecast R399 as Takealot daily deal

Got mine! Reading the reviews this really looks like a great product.
 
I'm trying to order one but as soon as I add to cart the price changes to R699. Dafuq??

Edit: Supplier out of stock. Looks like their buying department is run by the same people that do the Incredible Connection deals where they have like 6 units in stock.

Out of stock. Their "daily" deal had about enough stock to last an hour. By the way, this is what the thing is supposed to cost in the first place, it's $35 in the US. R500+ is just a joke.

I think they started with around 150, looks like it was sold out in less than a hour, they then added another 100, that lasted about 30 minutes.

Happened to me in the first round but no way to cancel the order when I tried to place another order again when they got stock the second time round.
 
Ok. Its a nifty little device. Works like a dream with a tablet. And if you have a service like Unotelly configured on your router - it can stream a lot of stuff. But - you have to sideload all the apps like Netflix to get them on your tablet. And you need a tablet or smartphone to use it.

I recently got a Roku Streaming Stick as a gift. It comes with a Wifi remote - you can also cast to it - the same as the Chromecast, but its dedicated interface and wifi remote makes it much easier to use.

In short- the Chromecast is plugged into the tv in the bedroom for when we watch something in bed, but the Roku has completely replaced my WD TV Live in the living room.

So playback is controlled via your smart device? i.e. it becomes the remote control ?

My request based on these things selling out like hotcakes. I'm sure our favourite uncle can secure number of these with his contacts and offer them up in comps. Everyone then gets a chance to get one
