So the Chinese android phones took some interesting turns which is actually working very well for people in SA.

Their new range of phones coming out now supports both FDD LTE and TD LTE...

This means they will support both MTN and Vodacom LTE network BUT they will also support Telkom Mobile LTE. This is pretty cool because it means you can pick up a device for about R1800 which takes 1 simcard or +-R3000 which takes 2 simcards, supports LTE and have decent specs too.

People on fixed LTE setups on Telkom Mobile reporting speeds of 70Mbps download so these devices can be pretty cool. Telkom Mobile LTE signal travels far too so you might only have 1 bar LTE from a tower 5KM away you will still get something like 8-10Mbps download speed.

Here are 2 devices that can actually be used like a mifi if needs be but impressive specs and is cheaper or equal in price compared to mifi's and router that works on Telkom Mobile.

Retails for $170 [1x sim slot]

anywhere to purchase these phones locally? i wouldnt mind trying one of them out.

LTE on a phone IMO is over kill .
I have the galaxy note 3 and never had the need for LTE.
I have bought a chinese quade core 1.3 prosseor phone on aliexpress and the phone works well with no problems not LTE .
The chinese phone is exactly like this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/In-S...hone-MTK6582-3G-GPS-13MP-quad/1849517529.html

Not always. LTE is overkill if you get 3G speeds of say 6Mbps+. Yeah then I can agree that LTE is overkill for the phone but LTE is nice to have when you use the phone as a modem to play games online or download something fast or even want to upload 15 facebook photo's. That is where LTE is nice. With the fast upload speed emailing big attachments or uploading media to social site is a breeze.

I like LTE on a phone and will not buy a phone without LTE ever again.

LTE on my phone. Best for downloading Roms, movies etc.

I use my phone as a modem. I downloaded kaspersky pure 3.0 for my computer. The file was 180MB. I had a speed of 26KBps yes that's correct, no typo. It took 10 minutes to download just 8MB and that's HSDPA. The total time needed to download the 180MB file was almost 2 hours. A fast lte connection would take about 20 seconds or less.

LTE is great i agree but RF is finite and the more people that go on it the more it will degrade .
It may be fine at the moment but that will change as more people use it .
More spectrum and more towers are needed

Do you know of any stores that sell any of these?

Yup....

Means you have super fast internet wherever you are.

Its been a life saver for me when I am away from home. Get some nice signal and share it to my laptop... its better than my ADSL at home !
