Eye Witness News App

There's a slight issue with the RSS feeds where they'll be a link to an article but the article is not yet published, so the app might show the headline but will soon remove it from the view so don't worry about that.
 
Very nice!

2 very small things I'd recommend:
- A little bit more padding between the images and the text on the home screen.
- Align the TextBlock on article pages with the image, currently the textblock is slightly wider than the image.

Two considerably bigger adjustments:
- Instead of having multiple page have one dynamic list that loads and grows as you scroll down.
- Live tile!

Okay will work on those, will try the dynamic list but don't wanna have a memory issue on lower end devices. Can't experiment with live tile yet as I don't have a device (that's why there's ads).

Unless you've specifically killed the previous pages as you navigate to the next one, then the previous pages are likely sticking around in memory anyway. Meaning that using the LLS and loading items inline will probably lower the memory use.
But double check with the profiler before deciding.
 
Just a question with in app ad, I'm sure the policies of adsense/admob disallow making profit on others peoples copyright/content?

If not there are gonna be a lot of unofficial apps soon ;)

For apps specific to a small market (i.e. a SA news app), the adverts won't really make enough money for anyone to care.
A rather good earning from ads is R10 per 1000 views.
The bigger worry is use of their name and brand.
 
I think fair use would be allowed but I'll happily remove the app if requested to.

I get a better CTR on my apps targeted at the youth segment, but I'm not trying to make a living out of it but it's good enough for component upgrades etc.
 
Okay if you didn't notice, the app is not visible in the store as I'm busy implementing new features.

Does the article summary matter, must I include it like the previous design?

I'd do something like this:

Not shown in the image above but all the articles with the same timestamp will be categorized under the same header (i.e. 4 articles under "3 hours ago", 2 under "5 hours ago", etc), this way you wouldn't have to add the timestamp to each item.
