I've been using my current phone a few months, and have found Google Now to be quite helpful at times, with unexpected functions that show up and impress me further.
So, I thought let's create a thread where we can share our tips and tricks, so everyone can get the most out of it!
Google Now:
Searching for certain subjects adds them to a pseudo "reading list" where Now will notify you of certain news articles on the topic : searched S5 and Now added "smartphones and tablets" to my cards list, giving comparisons between the S5 and various other phones, as well as direct reviews.
Regularly visiting some websites places them on a watch list where a card appears notifying you of new updates or posts on the site. Seems to work best for blogs rather than forums
Automatically learned my home and work location without having to manually enter them, and gives me travel times between the two at right times of the day.
Receiving an email (via Gmail) which contains information about an airplane flight at x time and location causes Now to pull the info and track your location, giving you travel times, as well as recommendations on what time to leave to make it in time.
Find my car - Google will remember where you last parked your car and a info card will show up.
Weather - Google will show you the weather of your home location. If you are in a different city it will show the weather of your home location and that city (two cards).
Calendar - Google scouts your calendar and will show a card if/when you have an event. If you have put an address into the calendar entry Google will show you the traffic to that location, when you have to leave and one-tap access to open navigation.
Follow people - You can follow people eg. Larry Page, Lionel Messi etc. on Google and get notified when new news articles or information from web pages about them appear.
Google voice search:
Play some music - plays a I'm Feeling Lucky radio station
No, I said - Correct Google Voice Search if it heard you incorrectly (doesn't work so great with me)
Ask Google to set the alarm/bring up a timer.
Let's go caroling - Google will play you popular karaoke Christmas carols with their lyrics.
Open specific apps - You can ask Google to open Whatsapp etc. by saying open Whatsapp
Reminders (as noted by the marvellous Maverick ) - Time, location and event reminders eg. remind me to buy milk at Checkers Lady Grey street.
Will update the OP as new functions are suggested.
