Armed Robbery at Linksfield Netcare Hospital

I suppose if you are shot INSIDE a hospital. Not needing an ambulance is pretty obvious :o Guess I was wrong.

Unless he aint got no medical aid and they were going to deport his ass to a state hospital. :D

Seriously though, glad he is ok. It is shocking though that we live in a country now where you are not even safe from robbery in a hospital. :(

MAN SHOT IN HOSPITAL ROBBERY

A man was shot and wounded in an armed robbery at the Netcare Linksfield Hospital in Johannesburg on Monday, police said.

Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini said the man was a security guard collecting money from the hospital along with his colleague.

"While he was in the reception area, he was attacked by two unknown men. They fired a shot and wounded him in the leg," he said.

The men fled on foot with the cash box which contained an undisclosed amount of money.

"Outside the reception area, police found a handgun without a serial number," said Dlamini.

Police were attending to the scene, and the security guard was in a stable condition.

"No one has been arrested yet." said Dlamini.

Looks like it was a Cash-In-Transit Robbery. Apparently they got away with one of the boxes.
Hopefully the dye will render it unusable.

I drove past there at 9.30am yesterday, and saw 12th avenue was cordoned off. looked up news articles and see that a handgun was found outside the hospital - i assume in 12th avenue.

JOHANNESBURG - Police say a security guard has been wounded in a shooting at the Netcare Linksfield Hospital in northern Johannesburg.

It’s understood the guard was collecting money in the reception of the hospital area when he was attacked by two gunmen.
The police's Lungelo Dlamini says, “They shot at him and took a cash box with an undisclosed amount of money.”

Police have cordoned off an area outside the main entrance to the hospital after a firearm was found on a nearby street.
The guard was treated on the scene and no one else was hurt.

Netcare says its business as usual at the facility, but adds its security at the facility will be reviewed.
Police are still on the scene and a search is underway for the two gunmen.
