TV porn in SA - is it even relevant?

People tend to get on soap boxes for the attention more than anything else.

Going after TV porn is like worrying about leaving a tap running once the dam wall has broken. These activists must know this which makes their motives highly suspect in my opinion.
 
I'm sure our soaps convey healthy relationships and safe sex :whistle:
 
It's low-hanging fruit. It's easy to drum up public sympathy for "think of the children" and the "evils of porn." But it's the start of the wedge towards censorship, which is their ultimate aim. They only want to be broadcast what they consider to be "wholesome entertainment" and no-one else's opion would carry any weight with them.

Governments tend to like this. They set up an unmonitored blacklist controlled by an agency that reports to no-one, then put websites on there that they dislike. Especially ones critical of the government.

It turns out that people don't WANT a porn filter, when given free choice.

LMFAO...this Darryl Cooke guy. It is almost as if he wants his porn to pass a series of approvals before he deems it acceptable. Ironically, there is porn available to cater for exactly his tastes!

Why doesn't he just suggest a porn channel/genre that he deems acceptable and be done with it.

Yeah I'd rather prefer the killing scenes an shows like 'Strike Back'. I fast forward though the sex scenes with my eyes closed.

Ja, taking issue with content that everyone agrees is only meant for adult consumption anyway kind of shows their real intentions. They're not interested in protecting kids, they want to control what people in general are able to watch.

Actually, taking issue with the licencing process just highlights how unconstitutional the process is.

I'm actually good with this. Let's make EVERY TV show pass the same approvals process. No more GoT. No more reality shows. No more American-made movies. I think this is a good step to clearing all content on TV.

Porn is relevant in that its about freedom of choice.

If you are stopping someone else from watching it then you are forcing your morals on someone else.

What's so wrong about ODM lying in their application? Surely everyone is entitled to lie in their representations? This is what lawyers are for!
