Bezuidenhout sounds like a thoroughly professional, experienced and highly competent executive.

Time for this matter to go away.

The SAA board said the incorrect information printed in the 2011 and 2012 annual reports were corrected at the earliest opportunity — in the 2013 annual report.

Must be a joke, right?

Once the report is published, that's it. It costs big bucks to reprint.

Anyway, hopefully this dies down now as the guy actually seems competent.
 
But didn't Faith say something like, "Hlaudi did not claim to have a matric certificate when we appointed him"? I say, all must go! Why didn't Nico say something 2 years ago, I am sure he saw the AFS'.

Same can be argued about others who lied about their qualifications. There's a cop who was fired in KZN for lying about his matric status 20 years ago. Apparently dude was competent but because he lied he was fired. I am telling you, there's more to this story than what's put to us.

Yes but Nico did not lie. Big difference. If he did then yes he should voetsek.

Maybe he did, though internally.
 
So how exactly did this info got onto the annual reports and why? If he did not lie, somebody else lied.

But how do we know he did not lie, because the board said so. Faith also said so re Hlaudi and she's the minister of communications. Can we therefore take her word? I feel we just being taken for a ride by these people who earlier claimed to have qualifications and then later do a u-turn. When companies appoint, they usually look for a degree and I have this suspicion that Nico said he had at the time. Let them give us his application form unedited.

But its a simple matter to have a correction note so the question is why did SAA not append a correction note to the pdfs appearing online and so on. Simple answer is because SAA - not Bezuidenhout - lacked transparency. I am damn sure that MyBB has at least once misstated somebody's qualifications or experience. The solution is an "articles correction" process.

The problem here is that there is a culture within parastatals etc ... of not valuing REAL transparency and Bezuidenhout is simply being used to downplay the severity of this cancerous culture. All evidence suggests that Bezuidenhout did report the error in the AFS and lead to it being corrected, I am quite sure that if he had done so by any external means he would have been disciplined by SAA for brining the company into disrepute.

Motsoeneng has been caught publicly lying and is an infamously dishonest person. Bezuidenhout on the other hand has been seen to be a candid airline executive.

He, the Mango board and the SAA board have all stated categorically that he has never claimed to have a degree.

Stop comparing it to the SABC debacle as it is not the same thing.

If you read up, I have also used the SAPS case as an example. What I am trying to highlight is, both these CEO's have had their board defend them one way or the other. We will never know the truth as we are all basing our opinions on news/board reports. If this guy lied, let him face the music. As Paul has said earlier, why didn't SAA issue just a note to state that they have made an error in their AFS's regarding Nico's qualifications? We are talking 2 years since they were released.

I never brought his competency into all my responses but merely his qualifications. At the end of the day, experience gained through the years is what is needed to run the airline and Nico has been running it well. That I don't question.
