Can somebody please verify if what Telkom are saying is true?
I have been on 20Mb/s ADSL2+ for the past 7 months without having a single issue, but then yesterday it switched to the 10Mb/s sync profile and stays that way even after a port reset on Telkom's side.
The line stats are still exactly the same as before, with the modem indicating it should handle a 24Mb/s connection.
The call centre agent is of opinion that the 20Mb/s ADSL2+ Elite product is no longer available, because the option is greyed out on her screen.
Anybody else also experiencing the same thing?
Update:
Yay! Was lucky enough to get through to someone that knows his job.
Apparently the Adaptive Spectrum and Signal Alignment (ASSIA) line optimization system checked the lines last night and decided to lower the sync profile to 10Mbs/s, even though the line stats were well within range for 20Mb/s.
Telkom has restricted access to this system for most call centre agents, which is the reason that they couldn't switch it back to 20Mb/s.
The ASSIA system also apparently messed up all Hermanus' lines recently, so it sounds like it is another case of rolling out new tech before it was tested properly.
