Hey myBB'ers,

After loadshedding my router is running fine, my modem has a steady DSL but I cannot establish a connection to Telkom or Afrihost.

I have hard-rebooted the modem and router to no avail, and the Telkom call center is experiencing a high volume of calls. Surprise, surprise.

Any tips or tricks I can try in the meantime?

Thanx.

Do you have a voice line on the same number? Try unplugging the filter.

Hardly ever works. He's going to have to call Telkom and deal with the waiting time. Most likely they'll do a port reset which should do the trick...

Dear Valued Telkom Internet Customer

It has come to our attention that some Telkom routers revert back to factory default settings when the power returns after load-shedding.
We have compiled a quick guide to assist with trouble shooting the problem and aid in correcting the settings on the router to get you back up and running in no time. Click the link below to download the guide.

Thanx everyone, but it came right by itself, 3-plus hours after the loadshedding.

I have the same issue after load shedding, but it fixes itself about 15 minutes after the power comes back.

Something similar myself, red light stays on for ages (30 mins to 3 hours), then it'll go green and I spend another 30 mins to an hour trying to dial up to any of my ISP's.

Having the same problem today. Tried three routers with 3 different isp's all with the same problem - and that's without any loadshedding in my area.

At any point in the day, if i turn off the router it takes about an hour to reconnect.

Same thing happened to me a while ago, i did this and then it was ok again.
Open the Telkom CD and click on service setup, then click internet. Type in your username and pw to re-connect.

Mine drops 10mins or so after loadshedding starts .. (router on UPS) , but connects straight away after the power is restored.
K T, I think we are on the same exchange. But I'm currently using VOX.

OP it is not just you. My load shedding just finished (6pm) (Cape Town area) - and now my DSL syncs but I cannot authenticate ANY account.

I see mweb has a country wide issue on their network notices page logged just before 6pm

Just checked my logs in the router. We were loadshed from 12 to 2pm, ADSL authenticated at 2:07pm, so maybe there was a time difference. But then again I don't know when the power was restored exactly as I was still at work.

So I' m not the only one. Even sent router back to supplier as there was no connection on WAN port. Then today the temp router also would'nt connect when power came back on after bloody load shedding. Web Africa Business line.
