I figured these two brand new rivals deserve they own head to head thread.

Civic Type R: 2L Turbo with 228kw; 400nm; FWD; manual option only; 0-100km/h in 5.7 & tops out at 270km/h.

Focus RS: 2.3L Turbo with ~238kw; no torque figure announced yet; AWD; manual option only; no performance figures announced yet.

I dig the Type R styling...

If you see what a Scirocco R does to a Golf R around a track, my money would be on the Civic. I'd drive the Ford home, though. It just looks like a nicer place to be.

I read an article yesterday where it said the RS is FWD. Dammit where did it go. Can I have both please.

With more power, torque and AWD the Ford should take that.

And then the 2015 RS3 will take them both.

*bump*

So figures finally released today about the RS & it's a cracker.

Basically same motor as the EcoBoost Mustang but with 10% more power.

2.3 T

"It revs to howling 6800rpm, delivering a claimed 258kW, with 440Nm on tap from 2000-4500rpm - and another 30Nm available for up to 15 seconds on overboost."

That's just shy of A45 power!

I like that the Ford is AWD. I also like the front styling. From behind the Honda looks better.

Pity it's a Ford though. Means the interior will be crap(compared to the Honda).

Ford have definitely upped their game over the past few years, but the Honda has a much better interior.

At the stupid price these cars will land at, I'll just stick with BMW.

Well seeing that the guestimate on pricing for the RS is upward of R700K, the Type-R will be a better buy, if that is your kind of thing.

Ford AWD V 2 wheel drive , from a technical point of view i would take the ford , they have their shyt together and are producing some awesome handling cars .
Honda are producing awesome figures on the track , but again 2 wheel drive V 4 wheel drive .
