Before I go mine through every major ADSL providers offerings anyone know where the cheapest capped month-to-month ADSL Data is currently?

Looking to get the most GB's I can for around R100/month, only have a 2mb ADSL line so I don't need blazing speed just must not be throttled or shaped especailly during the day.

Asking for trouble.. But Axxess capped + Vox Bolt-On

Thanks SLVR, I have an ADSL line already paid for each month(someone else is paying for it), I just need a month to month capped data, budget around R100.

That Vox uncapped bolt-on R59 is not bad though, how shaped is it?

Edit: But it looks like it depends on the R15/per 1GB, min 1GB, gig4gig product Vox sells?

I am currently using Bolt-On Uncapped, haven't experience any shaping whatsoever, it does stream as well. Not sure about gamers and playstations as I don't do that. It costs R59 a month and that is all you pay. I took it with their free 1GB as it is not a stand alone product. There are once off set up fees of R50 on both bolt-on and 1GB free.

You can only use it weekdays between six in the evening until six in the morning. From Friday it is open from six in the evening until six Monday morning. So far I haven't complained.

I use it as a back up to my capped Afrihost account.

Hope the above assist.

So R74/pm all in and a R100 setup fee, not bad at all. So for a R104/pm I get uncapped afterhours and 3GB anytime data, I do need more office hours data though :(

And in terms of just capped anytime data, what's the best packages you can currently get, something like 50gb for R100/pm would be perfect.

Set up fee is once off= R100.00
Bolt-on month to month= R59
1GB= Free ( to have bolt-on you will need either fatpipe or Gig4Gig)

I am currently on Bolt-on =R59 plus I get 1GB free anytime, every month. 1GB is capped and if you need more data you will need to top up.

I only use bolt-on and office hours I switch to Afrihost capped. I pay around R89 on Afrihost capped plus R59 bolt -on Vox = Total = R148 excluding voice line and adsl line rentals.

I hope this answers your question " Where is the cheapest capped month-to-month adsl data.

P.S: Remember Bolt-on is uncapped, semi shaped

R89 at afrihost gives 40gb which should be plenty for daytime useage but how do you switch the adsl account everyday, be a pita to need to log into the router and change the account twice a day?

You can dial a second account from your PC if you just need access from there. If you need it for all devices you have to change it on the router. Good news is Vox apparently has a new account where you get 25 GB fatpipe data (daytime) with the uncapped bolt-on (after hours) for R149. So no hassle with changing details on the router, and fatpipe data should be unshaped.

Check the bolt-on feedback thread for more detail.

True, I only use Vox on weekends so I change it once a week. Netgear Router is easy to do, you just need to log into their interface, delete vox, for example, and type in Afrihost username, vice versa. Normally chrome keeps the username and password for you so no need to keep typing it in all the time.

But I believe there could be another way of switching the ISPs without having to manual do the by log into your router. I am not sure about that though.

Currently I can switch between Webafrica their free 2GB, Crystalweb their free 1GB, Vox and Afrihost. :D

Hope I have been of your assistance.

I just want to point something out, it may be obvious but then again it may not.
Not all ADSL data is equal. Asking for the cheapest could well mean you get what you pay for...

Thanks for all the help so far guys, I'm getting there :)

I've noticed capped products from almost all the providers are fairly unshaped and decent enough speeds and as I mentioned the ADSL line I have is only 2mbit. Granted Axxess is doing something very wrong the last few days though, have 1gb free from them and its useless, always been ok before so I'm not sure what the story is there.

Vox 25 GB fatpipe data (daytime) with the uncapped bolt-on (after hours) for R149, seem like it may do what I need.
How are the Vox uncapped speeds for Youtube and torrents?

Good to hear .

Well I use Bolt-on to stream on my Smart TV LG, I can stream You Tube there without an issue, I also stream AlJazeera and RT News on the same TV and Live Soccer. So far I haven't experience buffering. I am not sure that as I haven't really push the account to the limit. Torrents I use Afrihost to download, again also depend on your usage. I just download movies and TV series now and again. Afrihost appears to be ok with downloads but really bad with streaming, you would probably need CW for that.

So in a nutshell this is how I structured my accounts:

Afrihost for downloads, and for daytime usage ( but as it has been pointed out perhaps fatpipe can also do the trick for you)

Bolt-on is primarily for streaming mostly on the TV. that is all I do with my accounts. :p

You get what you pay for - Just remember that.

Vox bolt on is good for what you pay IMO. But Afrihost/Axxess - Stay away from them.

Anyone know what Openweb home 2mb Uncapped is like, what is the shaping like on downloads/videos during the day?

On special R129 for 2mb, service level is home priority which sounds like the daytime speeds will be rather anemic.

The smallest Vox fatpipe data budle offered now is 50GB and that is R170/pm without the bolt on :(
