RIP
So many times have I heard people complain about the bloatware on Samsung devices, and never had I felt the same level of hate, as some people do towards them. And don't get me wrong, I don't like any of those useless apps. Maybe it's just because every time I get a new Samsung device, I follow a simple process to eliminate them as far as possible.
The first thing to realize is, that some of them can, and some of them can't be removed. So here, I will list the simple steps I followed on my current device, the S6edge. These steps will be applicable to any Samsung device.
Via the App Drawer
- Open the app drawer
- Find the desired app.
- Press and hold on it, to pick it up (as if you were going to place a shortcut on your home screen.
- At the top you will see some options.
- - If the app is uninstallable, there will be an uninstall option. Just drag and drop it onto it, and Bob's your uncle.
- - If the app is not uninstallable, there will a "App Info" option. Just drag and drop it onto it, to open the app's information screen, select Disable. It might uninstall some upgrades before disabling it.
Via the Application Manager
- Open Settings -> Applications -> Application Manager -> Scroll right to All (this path might be a little different depending on the handset)
- Find the desired app.
- Click on the app in question.
- - If the app is uninstallable, there will be an uninstall option. Just click it, and Bob's your uncle.
- - If the app is not uninstallable, there will be a disable option. Just click it, and Bob's your uncle. It might uninstall some upgrades before disabling it.
How to get back disabled apps?
- - In Settings -> Applications -> Application Manager -> Scroll right to Disabled (this path might be a little different depending on the handset)
- Find the desired app.
- Click on Enable.
- Go to the Play Store / Samsung Store, to check for updates for the app.
This guide might be a little "Duh! Who doesn't know that?" to some of us, but to most they are just content for these bloats to sit in the app drawer and eat up battery.
