Rocket League

I checked Nerdcubed's video on this a bit earlier in the week.
I looks like serious fun, considering adding it to my collection.
 
Downloaded on Saturday morning. Played for 6 hours straight with my bro.

....this game is a crap ton of fun. And highly addictive. :)
 
Awesome game, Platinum'd it this morning at 3. 165 matches played with an average of 1 goal per match.
 
how is the ping in this game, are you guys getting matched with locals or with eu players? if you are getting matched with eu players hows playing with 200 ms?

So ended up picking Rocket League up on Friday night after all my plans for the weekend imploded. It's a ton of fun (and I don't play racing/sports sims that much).

In regards to the question above, you can select different regions. If I remember correctly there are at least 3 (OCE, US, EU). I obviously chose EU since we get the best ping there. On average I got 160-190 ping, and the game is completely playable. It looks like the majority of the netcode works client side, and there's only been one or two occasions where I could have sworn I would hit the ball and I missed. Over the weekend I never saw less than 30 000 people playing on EU, so the population is pretty healthy.

My only complaint is that when people leave the player is replaced by a bot. Even at the rookie level, these bots sometimes pull off shots that I struggle to do at this point.
 
Picked up 2 copies on steam for myself and the gf this weekend, awesome game. Need to find people for pvt games for more fun though I reckon
 
Also got it on the PS4. Pretty fun, though my ping is closer to 250-300 most of the time. Still playable most of the time.

Always puzzled my mind at the speed in which some people type chat msgs, now i know its the PC players! lol
 
I had a nice one on Sunday, regret not saving the replay though.
Game was tied 1-1, we are into extra time... I somehow managed to do a bicycle-kick from the halfway line into the goal for the win.
Although I will admit, it was purely by accident. :D
 
Might as well ask here to se if I'm the only one with this issue. Every time I have a session I get frustrated because every now and then my ping jumps from about 205ms to 988ms and stays there for around a minute of the game where my car just jumps around on screen.

I've disabled wifi so just my pc is connected to the network, tried Vox, Telkom and FNB connect ISP's all with the same result. So far I'm thinking it's one of 3 possibilities:

- It's a common problem for us, this is why I'm asking here to see if anyone has similar issues.
- It's my antivirus, currently using bitdefender total security (is this possible? I haven't found a way to temporarily disable this like I could with eset)
- It's an exchange issue, bad luck for me.

Anything else I could look into that could be causing this?

Its not a common problem, I play with no issues on my 2mbps line.Try putting your AV off for the gaming sessions.
