Take a look at Kyalami race track’s massive upgrades

We might just get the F1 back in SA after all.

It took one man to do it out of his own pocket to make it a reality. Makes one wonder wtf happened to all the Billions of Rands Kyalami has collected through out the years. Well done !

They say they are aiming for FIA Grade 2 so I doubt it but there are lots of other nice events that Porsche could bring here.

I hope so! Really do.

Only being upgraded to Grade 2 so not suitable for F1...

How he's going to get his money back I have no idea but I'm glad he did it

Also been told once they are done Ducati Sandton will move their dealership to the racetrack.

So there should be quite a business complex around there.

Wonder if this will bring the DTM series our way - some awesome cars there.

All the other nice events will be good for motorsport in South Africa. There are plenty of other opportunities that could be just as exciting to see. All in, this is good news. Great to see Porsche investing in South Africa. Kudos!

Anyone know the requirements needed to go from 2 to 1T or 1?

Doubt it will cost that much. I think the plan is to get it up and running as soon as possible to host world class events and then upgrade to 1T and then 1. Grade 2 is on Le Mans and Daytona level right? World class events, just not F1 yet.

Well Porsche have always loved SA considering they've done a lot of testing with their cars here and also launched at least one here that I remember possibly more.

They also do the annual (I think?) Porsche Driving Experience thing here.

So probably lining up Kyalami as a test track as well.

Was it Porsche that bought it or Porsche SA's CEO?

I was never clear on that. I thought this Toby guy bought it in his personal capacity.
