Pondering this, this morning.
A lot being the sad answer on my end :p

From women to friends to family.

Currently at the front of my mind as I helped a mate a while back and want the money back. It isn't a lot, R3k odd but it's scratching at my sides lately and wondering if I should write this off too.

Never lend money to a friend with the expectation of getting it back.

When you lend money to a friend, never expect it back. I wrote off 10k last month.
 
Friends and money never mix. You can either choose the money or your friendship.
 
If you lend a friend R3k and you never see them again - its money well spent.
 
Nothing on that front - the bigger loans I got back.

I did ship a 20k PC internationally without proper insurance though..."whats the worst that could happen"...got wrecked.
 
A true friend will......."PAY BACK THE MONEY".........

Fark me through the years and various small ventures. Probably enough to buy a brand new car :o

Those days are long gone though.

Edit: on lending money - I have lent my family loads of money over the years and they always pay it back. Friend though... eish I would never.
 
Someone wrote my car off, it was worth R105k at the time, got R36k back when I sold the car as is though.

Bought an Xbox 360 for R3k from some guy I met only once before, when I plugged it in it had RRoD, and the number he gave me was fake.

Ordered 3 pairs of tekkies from abroad, never saw them (can't remember what they cost)

Bought a puppy for R1k, the guys who I bought it from came to steal it back

My #1 rule of thumb is if I lend money to someone I write it off that same day, if I get it back, bonus :)

This is me. Some people seem to forget that there is a difference between "can you borrow me x amount?" and "can you give me x amount?" if you said borrow and you gave me a date when you will be paying me back, best know I will be messaging you on that day just because you said it.
