We made it! I thought it was be useful to have a thread for this once things get rolling. Now the wait starts :whistle:

Communication sent on the 24th of August:

Dear xxx xxx,

The 123NET fibre Team is proud to announce that the area you signed in, qualified for a fibre network installation, according to our company goals.

We are very happy that the residents showed such a great interest into our services and signed up on our website.

What does come next? Here are the phases which we will follow:

Phase I: Investigate & Plan

It is a joint effort between us, the Municipality, the home associations and the residents of their area. This means we are planning very carefully our new network, and we are working closely with all the responsible Municipality departments to understand and review the infrastructure, roads, underground paths and wayleaves required.

Our representatives will soon get in touch with the local authorities to arrange the needed documents and wayleaves. We will appreciate your help to speed up this process too.

Every single inch of this ultra-fast new network has to be planned and mapped very carefully. We will use any existing underground or air infrastructure that we are allowed (such as existing ducts or utility poles).

We have already started negotiations on bringing gigabit speeds to the town with the assistance of our carrier and connectivity partner WorkOnline.

Phase II: The 3 CONs - CONstruct, CONtract, CONnect

When the plan is ready, we are starting our hard work of laying our new fibre optic cable, specially manufactured for our project. Once we have your area covered, you can easily be connected to our123NET fibre. You are connected when our crew comes to your home and links the fibre to a special network box (ONU). Then you become a part of the global gigabit Internet family!

You're a different area I think. Go check https://www.123net.co.za/ and register your address.

Well, no reply/communication since that e-mail. No contract fiasco like the other neighborhoods as there were no contracts sent out to begin with.
I'm pretty much done waiting for 123net, going to start signing up interest with others and going to ask neighbors to do the same.

Btw guys, leave a review on their facebook page as one guy has already done. I'll write mine tomorrow.
 
Can't help myself, but when I read the thread, and then the top post, which contained this line. I just burst out laughing. Should have been a sign.

I had several email exchanges with one the PR staff at 123Net throughout last quarter of 2015. From the tone in the last correspondence it sounded like they where barely keeping their heads above the demand, which is natural I suppose.
So don't give up on them yet.. I guess promoting the service and getting more people to express interest in our areas would be a clear signal that we are in need and very serious about fibre from 123Net.

Yeah, but months of no contact? They should at least send a news letter every month to say what the progress report is, then they wouldn't have lots of individuals trying to get their attention/updates.
 
Yeah, I did get a sense they where giving me the 'Hollywood principle : We'll call you, don't call us!'

It could be that they are trying to capture user commitment in the area before competition does, but I agree and share frustration that we don't have any feedback on progress.

Who else do we support...

Telkom seems to have some fibre across the road from me [Braselton road border between Sunningdale and Parklands] but has explicitly stated that they have no plans of rejuvenating their current copper installation in Sunningdale.

Leaves one question, who else is actually made any inroads to our areas?

Latest from our planners, now that the silly season is over and the City officials and engineering consultants will be back in office:

"We received back the designs from engineering today, will submit Monday if we find no problems over the weekend."

Looks like Frogfoot planners will have a fun weekend of scrutinising 40km of fibre trenching plans to make 100% sure they are correct (coke and pizza may be harmed in the process) - and the wayleave applications will be submitted next week. If no more errors are discovered in the plans.

Looks Frogfoot will be underpinning all fibre rollout in the area... they list number of ISP's ... open access is only sensible thing to do ...

Would be useful if they could publish map with interest / registrations so we can chase up on our neighbors to speed up delivery ..

So the site is called tableviewfibre.com, yet they cannot spell Table View correctly in the drop down list :mad: Table View vs Tableview.
 
Would anyone on here know if the workers that are working up along Gie Rd are laying cables for the Fibre network i.e. are they still in a planning phase or rollout?

I did visit http://www.tableviewfibre.com/Home/Home/Coverage and see that the Table View is in yellow but couldn't find anymore information beyond it being in a yellow colour?

Very much looking forward to being liberated from Telkom!
