Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus – SA iStore prices

Go to gumtree and get a sealed local stock one for a fraction of the price...I seen gold 64gb current versions sealed for R9500.Sure the new one will still be under R11k

R650 for the basic model.Sorry not paying those prices. Will rather move onto prepaid.

huh?

This is the new sealed stock prices for the iPhone 6S.

This is all the zar / dollar rate....
I'm still getting a 6s 64 gig ( getting my wife's upgrade)

Yes read my reply again slowly the new one is the 6s.

I did and it makes no sense. The gumtree iPhone 6S start at 12500 for the 16GB.

For 9500 you are getting an iPhone 6 and not a 6S. Suspect you need to go read Gumtree a bit more slowly.

Its not even released yet and I don't bother looking at the grey stock ones without warranty for pricing, so I'm talking about once its released and the early rush(a week or two) is over then prices should normalize to around R11k on gumtree for sealed ones.

Basically that's when it makes sense to buy cash. For now people selling are just out to profiteer and they are selling grey stuff...I don't waste my time looking at that.

Seems you have some experience on Gumtree. I agree that it's best to avoid the grey imports. Overpriced and warranty issues. My question to you is whether the local sealed stock on Gumtree is normally from people taking out contracts and then deciding to sell the handset for extra cash? If that's the case what happpens should they default on their contract? Does the phone get blacklisted?

"Subject to clause 3.10.4, MTN will be the owner of the Mobile Device until the end of the Initial Contract
Period or until You have paid the Purchase Price of the Mobile Device in full (whichever happens first),
except that where this Contract is cancelled in terms of clause 10 or clause 11 then MTN will remain
the owner of the Mobile Device until you have paid the Purchase Price of the Mobile Device in full"

I don't think they will blacklist the phone, just cut off the sim that came with the contract. The phone should be unaffected through all of this.
