Windows 10 to automatically download to users’ PCs

I am getting seriously ticked off with MS. It's bad enough that Win10 has no respect for your privacy (ye ye tinfoil hat is on) but then they added the same crap to Win7 and now they want to force the download as well? I wish there was a proper Linux gaming alternative (more than the current steam support).
 
After each reboot I have to go hide this thing again.

Really bad form interfering with my PC Microsoft.
 
I just ignore it.

Not planning on "upgrading" from Win 7 to Win 10 anytime soon.

And especially when those small capped accounts are with a mobile provider. I have 2 clients with R5000+ MTN bills (and they still don't have the complete win 10 upgrade folder on their pc's).

One of them even refused to allow me to disable windows update to protect him from another bite from the OOB shark. Said he needs the updates "for security". I gave up trying to explain it all to him and am now waiting for him to moan about his next R5000 MTN bill. He said "No problem, I won't pay it". I said "Good luck with that, mate".
 
Windows 10 is only a worthwhile upgrade if you currently have Windows 7 Starter/Home Basic or any version of Windows 8.

Regular updates are pretty standard these days. Microsoft still does the main updates through Patch Tuesday.

In November we'll get Th2, which is really the originally-intended Windows 10 release. At least that comes as an update and not a new install.

WaaS is here, and all it means is that new features 'n stuff come by way of updates rather than new versions. Normal stuff in these internet days.

I agree Arthur, but the complete refusal by Microsoft to acknowledge that not everyone who uses a pc these days has access to cheap, fast unlimited internet is the main gripe here. The septuagenarian skype/email/internet banking crowd on 1 Gb pm mobile dongles are not very happy about all this I can assure you.

They say that?

Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8.0 and 8.1 all do the same - since 2003. And Win10 makes it more efficient than ever for people with multiple systems - unlike the others, Win10 can fetch updates off other PCs on the LAN.
