Hey all,

So I just went on the Dark Fibre website, and there's a nice green line on 14th Road, Noordwyk (where I live) on their coverage map.

So why don't any ISP's offer their services if there's Fibre already there?

You'll most likely need a bunch of people near you to want to sign up as well before any ISP will consider provisioning access on that glass.

Hey, I was actually thinking of going around to the complexes this weekend and do a little survey to see if people are interested.

There are 5-6 really big complexes in my area. Problem is, I have no idea how I am gonma gain access to the other complexes in my area lol.

ours dont but the security guard collects all the post, then it gets delivered to the individuals place by the guard as he has to do his rounds every 2 hours anyway

Well, most people will pay R1000 up to R1500 for fibre pm.

Most people? ;)

What I have seen from the people interested in fibre in Lynnwood, "most people interested in fibre" will pay R400-R600 for fibre. Less than 10% of "people interested in fibre" will pay more than R1000. And these are just the interested people, there are people who are not interested.

Just because it is fibre does not make people want to automatically spend more on internet, if that was the case most people would subscribe to 20 Mbps ADSL, but they don't. People actually want to spend less on internet.

Fibre needs to accommodate both the low internet spending households as well as the high internet spending households to be a success. :)

This quote is very true. Blairgowrie was the same. Most people saying they would pay less than R500 a month for Fibre. However, since the install started, more and more people are signing up.

People don't know what they want until someone else next door have it ;). We expect to see the same thing happen in our area.

If you want proper internet you must be willing to pay for it and not be a cheapskate. go back to adsl if you want to pay that kind of money. the problem with most people is that they not willing to spend for pure unshaped, low contention connections. they want the best, but pay next to nothing. lols :D
